Well well well. The California legislature as well as the House in Washington are planning to make a law that will require you to pay an extra 2.500 dollar tax to buy a car that they don't think you need . This includes pick ups mini vans SUVs etc. That money would then go in to rebates for people that buy economy cars.

If this isn't a violation of people's right to choose I don't know what is. The effect will be similar to Freightliner. People like me will by a truck before the law goes into effect then the orders will plumet and Ford and GM will be laying off more workers and dealerships will go down the tube etc.

When will the unions and their workers in Detroit and around the country wake up and figure out the liberal democrats are out to get them, purposely or not? They are screwing themselves.

Idiots all off them: The policy makers and the people that vote for these people.

Rich: Rather than complain get involved.....Whining about it only affects the people in your daily life....and most get tired of hearing it..

Whatever Terry. I'm sure this is music to your liberal ears. Why would someone with your high stature and liberal beliefs care to even come to a site like this? By the way, I do get involved and I won't stand to get ran over by these policys.

If everyone thinks this is OK, then I guess we have lost the country and what it stands for. America has just been deballed.

Hey, this is what people voted for.

The unions are like the UN and how many other things that didn't end up like they started out. Corruption always eventually creeps in and I believe the only way to fix it is to scrap it and start over every so many years. I would put our government at the top of that list. You can vote for Demoblicans or you can vote for Republicrats.

Also while we were not looking!
The Supreme court ruled that the EPA has to regulate CO2 [ can you say higher electric costs ] and also get this , said the EPA has to live up to the increased EPA cafe mileage increases while the mandated ethanol is introduced into mainstream gas across the country. Big deal you say it pollutes less!
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Ethanol gets from 23 to 28 percent less gas mileage than Regular Unleaded and the reduced mileage's and increased burning of the fuel causes a increase in CO2 output.
The almost bankrupt auto builders have to figure out how to get more mileage and incidentally figure out how the increased gas usage and related polution will pass the Tests mandated in some cities and states which were done on new cars using conventional gas.
Silk Purse out of a sows ear comes to mind.
Being how there's fixing to be a shortage of bicycles you might want to purchase one and convert that GM stock to Schwinn stock.
The EPA has been reluctant to regulate CO2 because of the can of worms that would be opened up like cows and humans also exhale CO2 .
Will we be mandated limits too?
Hey man you are too fat , you are exhaling wayyy too much CO2 , you gotta lose weight!
Banning eating beef would be wayyy more beneficial to the environment than Toyota Preis cars in every driveway.
Lookout the Hamburger Police are coming soon!

Don't forget about alcohol drying out anything rubber or plastic it comes into contact with, along with the fact that it corrodes aluminum badly!

LOL, It does concern me when people act like the waste product (basically the urine) of yeast is our environmental end all.

Next we'll be washing our clothes in our own waste products again.

Yeah Ron we may be back in mud huts swatting flies again.
I'll not forget that today's gas doesn't have a very long shelf life. LOL
That guy telling me at a light that he didn't know Corvette's came out with Diesels is still fresh in my mind.
Incidentally this weather system moving across the middle US coming your way is really powerful.
We got 3 in. hail and a Tornado close to my house.
Deb lives closer to it than me but my Daughter and a van load leaving a football game almost got hit when it crossed the freeway in front of her.
Her phone dialed me and I could hear a lot of screaming and hail hitting the Trailblazer and the last thing I heard was Tornado and the phone went dead. Lordy I almost wore out my phone but the storm knocked out power all over town including towers.
Other than big hail dings in her new car everyone was all right thank the lord.

That's all I need. Just left a snowstorm in Waverly, NY, yesterday morning and barely stayed on the leading edge of that storm on my way back south. Now I've got it coming from your way, too? I WISH we had global #*@%!!! warming!

Nah I'M sitting at Tony's in BR LA. having some mud bugs and Coors light.
Here's thinking about you. Ha Ha!
They have these Mud bug corn pone ball's that are really delicious.
Here taste this Jambalaya.
I was home Easter and got snowed on.
Racing is batting almost 0 so far.
Got rained out again tonight.
Least the track didn't get blowed away, I think!

Aw man! You'd better NOT be at Tony's! You cruel S.O.B.! :D I'm sitting here snacking on popcorn! Okay, I did have a wonderful meal earlier at Golden Corral. Still, Tony's! I can get Golden Corral any week! Eat a mudbug and some boudin for me, please. I just want what that place rakes in in ONE Friday!

First off I can be considered liberal and even I think this is a a dumb law!

This "tax" is just a way for the tree huggers to slap people for buying cars that don't fit their profile: 4 cylinder, boring pieces of crap.

The automobile and of course racing is one thing that unites all of us though I the consumption of hydrocarbon fuel in large amounts seems at odds with the liberal set.
Maybe but i'm not I'm not an expert.
Besides that I'm busy eating mud bugs at Tony's in red stick and life doesn't get any better!

Exactly right Sam. If we could run cars on water with no pollution I'd be all for it. But the truth is there's no free lunch and the people who believe this horsesh!t is going to destroy the middle class with these policies. And for what? Nothing will be achieved except gulf between the very Rich and the poor will be wider then ever.

That's why I don't believe in liberals, conservatives, or whatever other label you want to call yourself, falling into the trap that it seems to me much of the media wants us to. We can always get into what the definition of good intentions are, but I always assume that those who disagree with me have good intentions until they demonstrate otherwise. There's rarely a need to villainize, which many people seem to confuse with the word "debate." As long as we're divided and think the "other side" has bad intentions, they have a job in promoting it.

Just compare facts and ideas. If you convince me that yours are better than mine, I'll admit it and come over to your side on an issue because it's what I'd want to do.

I'm a fiscal conservative and a social liberal. When it comes to money, the Republicans are too liberal for me. After that, I don't think any government can change what you want to do in your life by legislating it. Just don't do what fits my definition of harming others.

I am collecting stories and links about global warming and have created a new web page called Global Warning. Included is the newsweek story from 1975 about Global Cooling. If that doen't illustrate this foolishness nothing will.

Here's the link: www.capracing.com/global_warming.html

Again, it's all about intentions. I believe there are those who have good intentions and are only guilty of believing what the biased media (who you SHOULD be able to trust) tells them. Then there are those who KNOW it's a bunch of baloney and are just using it to try to convince people that they "need" them in office to protect them. Time and time again the media gives us reasons as to why we can't trust them and time and time again some people act like they don't see any of it.

If the earth were cooling right now, some scientists would figure out a way to link it to capitalism and you'd see the same outcries that you do now.

If the earth's temp WASN'T even changing right now, some scientists would figure out a way to link it to capitalism and you'd see the same outcries that you do now.

Let's see if I got this straight....

I win some money in a contest and I decide to buy a new car. Because I work 10 minutes away from home, fuel economy is not of upmost importance so I decide to look into other factors. I end up choosing a Dodge Charger Daytona R/T (in Plum Crazy, so you know).

Now if this law is passed, the federal government does not feel I need a V8-powered 350hp car to get to work every day so they tack on $2,500. In turn they take this money I had to part with and give it as a incentive to some yuppie with wants to buy a Prius.

Yeah, that would get me pissed off.

Agreed!!! I have been thinking really hard about getting an 09 Camaro, but if this law passes, I will reconsider that purchase.

Thats what will happen as people will stop buying American cars. This is unamerican in more ways then one. Why the unions (except Gov. Unions) think the democrats are on their side is beyond me. There green policies will put an end to Ameican made cars and trucks.
