Where is the outrage?

in my mind it does

Well everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I think it is "DISHONEST" to say you didn't dive instead of being a stand up person and saying you did. In my opinion NHRA as usual is wrong on this deal. It is a team, "you play to win", nobody remembers who came in second place. Cut the BS NHRA, let them play. I think with legal diving it would really make things interesting. I could just imagine Force saying "YEAH I DIVED, SO WHAT, I DID IT FOR MY SPONSORS".

sacrifice fly, bunt up the first baseline to move the runner up, delay double steal... and I was taught that in little league...

d'kid

I'd be more concerned if the crew chief (coaches) did not hand the driver (players) the best car (techniques).

Having a teammate hand you one run doesn't erase a championship caliber season.

It's not so much whether or not Force handed him a run. It's the cruelty of the countdown itself. Dive or no dive, Hight couldn't hit his a$$ with both hands for 18 races. He had a championship 1/4 season, snatching the title from the guy who already had a championship 3/4 season under his belt. And THAT is what really sucks.

Then maybe it's the NHRA that exacerbated a problem that they're "against".

yes, diving IS exacerbated by the C, no question about it.
it is imminent with combination of multi-car teams and tightened points
for a six race sprint to the championship.

scenario at vegas........
force races and wins first round, gains 20 points.
hagan after force in first round, racing teammate capps - 'heads up'?

connie kalitta said it best many years ago @ BIR when shutting scott's TF'r
off on the line racing against doug.........."those winston points are just
too valuable'

If Hagan faces Capps or Beckman at Vegas or Pomona, it will be very interesting to see what happens.

I've just spent over 30 minutes with the rulebook, and I can't find anything anywhere that says you can't "dive". Anybody help me find something that makes it specifically against the rules?

Here's the closest I can find:

Any participant who NHRA believes to have a conflict of interest that does or may improperly affect fair competition shall be disqualified from participating to the extent necessary to avoid such conflict of interest. The scope of such a disqualification shall be determined in the sole and absolute discretion of NHRA.

Love to know the actual language NHRA uses to make "diving" against the rules.

If one car is diving for another, it's no longer a race.

I don't know about anybody else but when I go to the races, I PAY to watch racing, not diving.

I think the outrage was used up over the indy deal !!
Everyone was told to get over it then. It happens.

Exactly!! Now a non-Force car/bike appears to have went in the tank for their teammate and people want outrage? This is a business and diving will continue to ensure some teams win championships.

People want outrage b/c every time JFR farts there is outrage but yet when other teams do it also nobody says a word. Its a double standard.

Its just part of the business. It happens in every sport. It always has, always will. Sometimes is just worse than others. But I understand it and accept it.

And to me, it doesnt matter who it is either. If Hagan goes to Pomona with the lead and meets up with Capps/Beckman 1st rd and has to win it to secure the championship I have NO problem with them laying down to him. Same goes for anybody.

It's competitive diving.

LOL......instead of 'triple gainer'......'swan dive'......'doube back-flip'

drag racing vernacular........'shook-em'....'smoked-em'....'cable-snap'
......'early chute'.....'red-lit'......'sleepin'.....'2-stepped-it'....'outta'-the-groove'
......'hit the cone'......'lost-a-cylinder'.....'forgot-to-put-oil-in-it'
......'leakin'-on-the-line'......'fogged-visor'

hey, if someone threw a race for their teammate and the interview said,
'hey, i wuz sittin' up there and my visor fogged so i was late then it shook
real bad, lost a cylinder and tossed the belt'.....who are we to not believe:D

And if any of the above were to happen legitimately everyone is going to assume it was a dive anyways...
