If it were a certain team owner that posts here, no on would be calling him out. In fact, a lot of posters ripping on WJ would be patting him on the back.Nope, I can't agree with most of you. I want my racers all to be edgy and mouthy, no matter who they have to tangle with. NASCAR has cracked down on the edginess too, so NHRA in all their jaded wisdom has to be just like NASCAR. I say let all deal with each other. I enjoy the controversy as much as the racing. Cookiecutter racers? Bah!
WJ has always been a big whine baby. Remember when he was trashing Jim Yates when Yates was beating him constantly? Remember when he trashed Darryl Alderman when Darryl was beating him constantly? Remember when he trashed Scott Geoffrian (sp?) when Scott was beating him? Remember when he trashed Jeg for the same reason? WJ just seems to like to trash competitors when he is losing. I lost respect for him years ago. It is time for him to consider retirement.
anybody catch Greg Anderson's comment in the staging lanes: "anybody that can't get up for this [Indy] doesn't belong in this sport"
think he was talking about Warren?
Indy's not like it used to be
WJ while waiting to run looks up and sees the stands filing up. What he fails to realize is that they aren't going to the stands to watch pro stock or him. They are going to the stands because the nitro cars run after the pro stock cars get out of the way.
Its not as big as it once was, however it is still bigger than any other race.
My first Indy was in 1982. I had been to other national events but even at 7 yrs old, walking in I just knew this was so much more. Over the years the special funny car and pro stock races have either moved or disappeared, field sizes have gone down...but yes its still Indy.
Now part of that is due to people who are steeped in the History of it. To the newbie in the stands its just " oh the loud cars are in town this weekend lets go". They do not realize that this event is akin to Daytona or the Indy 500, its just a race to them.
However to the group of addicts that I am proud to have hung out with this weekend, it is our yearly pilgramage, the journey to celebrate the past, respect the history and hope for the future of our sport. It its people like that which will still make Indy a special event
John Force obviously agrees with WJ!!![]()
Mark thanks! It's about time somebody got it.
I guess if this becomes commonplace we'll see drivers pulling over at Daytona, Monaco, at the Indy 500, 24 Hours of Daytona and even BAJA!
