a few enticing comments regarding a possible 'triple crown' and the 'major' that
is Englishtown.
in the absence of big money races of past years, is it viable for the NHRA to
establish at least one opportunity to earn extra money and glory for
victory/s in pre-established race/s?
triple crown, western swing, indy........something.
IMO start with one race (indy) and dangle big carrot$, then you'll see that
race's importance flourish again.
most recent WFO radio a fan asked why nhra doesn't race mem. day
weekend anymore and answer/s were correct; too many other series with
established landmark races.........but, i thought part of
the answer was missed in that NHRA DOES HAVE a landmark event........
on labor day weekend, and IMO it has lost its prestige.
as in 'snake/indy 500' thread, it's mentioned regarding payouts, 'why do
you think so many teams are willing to spend so much in May?'
i miss the big bud shootout and top fuel classic.
they were a race within a race for big money; especially the FC race @ indy;
sunday's b.b. elims were just as exciting as monday's finals.
