Jon -
I posted on the Nitronic board a bit and lurked a lot. To this day I run a "Nitronic Research" decal on both my funny car body (rear spoiler sideplate) and altered (on the rear wing).

Yep, you and Paul were already friends in real life and then I met both of you guys at BIR before I was active on this site..... and it wasn't even the nationals where we originally met. I'm pretty sure you and Paul were at a divisional in the late 90's or very early 2000's and I stumbled into your original campsite along the main road at BIR. It was weird because back then, nobody was camping out in the campground during the divisional events (or very few people anyway) Everyone camped in the pits back then because 99.9% of the people at a divisional are there racing, or there WITH a racer...... But you guys were camped in the campground "practicing" for the nationals. Good times. Good memories.I remember posting on here as early as '01, WAY back before we used real names. Social media kind of pulled me away for many years, but started lurking again several years ago.
If it weren't for this group, there are some people I would have likely walked right by and never met. @Mike Larson & @Mark Krogen for example. I think I knew @Brian Okeefe before I knew he was on Mater. I met Joe Shorewood for the first time in Phx last year when @Paul Songas and Peter Nielsen went down for the "Last Pass"... Haha!

My mother (RIP) used to say, "Age is relative, unless you're a bottle of wine or a piece of cheese."Tony, yer not old until you are Isky's age.
Between the first 600 pages of the MPLS & ST. PAUL phone books of Anderson/Andersen, I probably knew half of them, but 50+ years later w/ CRS, if they raced Div.5 I might have......Ok, do you know Curt Anderson? Don Henrichs?

RandyHi Bob. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving! Is there any chance you would be willing to translate this into English? LOL
Remember the Bob Dylan song, "My Back Pages"? A little political but 1 line stands out in my reading all the post on this thread.
Ah, but I was so much older then
I'm younger than that now
I turned 78 2 days ago. Still pushing-the-boulder but been very fortunate and good genes have kept me well (in spite of myself).Mine says July 9, 2006, but I think that was also the re-register date. I was here very early, and seem to remember this was originally a Scotty Cannon fan site that became Nitromater.
For results and conversations I was originally on Compuserve, which was accessed by dialup (phone with the squacks and screeching until it connected) internet. From there you went to CIS RIS which was Racing Information Services on Compuserve. They did live updates of the races on it. I know Dave Gerrard will remember names better than me, but Ed Dykes (?) was involved and a few others.
Oh. I'll be celebrating the 40th anniversary of my 28th birthday in about 3 weeks.Heck Randy - I coulda' sworn we "met" on Prodigy before Compuserve.
Yep, I would've had the hydrostatic golf cart at that time. I wish I still had that thing! There were a few late nights at that campsite during non-national weekends. One of those Divisional weekends I remember driving my little red Honda scooter through the ditch in front of your campsite and the girl riding on the back of my scooter fell right off into the ditch. (It was Mike Segar's girlfriend, She didn't get hurt, and even she thought it was funny) It must've been after BIR removed your homemade bridge.... or maybe I drove off the bridge, I don't remember. lolol.I'm trying to remember, I think that was when you had the hydrostatic golf cart. We weren't in any better shape than you were that night. haha! I swear we all almost watched the sun come up. It was right around the turn of the millennium; '00, '01. @Paul Songas would know.

It's hard to keep all the campground memories straight... lolI think it was '06 the last time we camped there. In '07 we ended up across from Bud Corner, but the ditch was filled in and the (new in '06) bridge was gone. That bridge was the first legit bridge we built, with 4x4's and 3/4" plywood, not some sketchy pallets all screwed together. We only got one Nationals out of it. in '08 we moved to my dads reserved site and have been there ever since.
You need to get your ass back up there!
I am considering going to the PRO event this winter in Bradenton and then sticking around for "Sick Week" the following week. I might even bring my car (daily driver) down there and follow along for the week. (in Sick Ward). Nothing set in stone yet.... Just a thought.
