March 2010. First dose of nitro was circa 1985 at KCIR (RIP). Stoked that there's going to be a new track in the KCMO area - I can plan trips to see family around the time of the races.

Great to see so many familiar names checking in on this thread... I think the 98PercentNitro handle was about 2001/2002- thanks Spike.

My kid Emmett was just starting in Juniors and we got a lot of support here throughout his career. He's a grown-up now, working for Delta airlines and he's still a fan. Never did get Avery to come over to the Dark Side; probably a good thing... Having two of those things would have been stupid expensive!

I miss Suzie and Mace too; we hung out a bunch because of our connections in the music industry. Lots of good folks here I've gotten to know through the years.

Thanks for keeping the place up and running!!

I believe there was a site called goracing.com that had a message board back in the late 90’s. I was messaged through there that this site existed in the early 2000’s. At some point in the early days there was a site than spun off from this site. My memory is fuzzy but there was a group of members who were trying to organize funding for Bill Ancona and his top fuel car. For the life of me I can’t remember what that site wa called but it existed for a couple of years or so but never got the traffic this site did.

Does anybody remember the member A. Poole? Huge WJ fan that stirred up a bunch of crap on a regular basis.
I remember those days…..

Joined in 2017 but lurked well before. I’m heading towards 73 so am vintage in years. Thx for letting me mingle with all you real racers, my only claim to fame was a couple of local stock classes in the 60s/70s. Started going to races in ‘63, then IHRA and multiple NHRA events since ‘87.

I kinda enjoyed the time before we had to register with our names. Lots more scuttlebutt and inside info being passed around, by crew member, etc.
77 here. Raced my 40 ford w/ 392, stack injected, when I was 14, 1960, at Kettlersville 1/5 mile strip.
Many dumba**s forgot to take out of reverse and hit that wall. Our HR club pitted just to the left, inder a nice shade tree.
Ted Jones owned it, then went onto IHRA
