Track food prices.

You'd think they would've figured out by now that if the food prices were reasonable, there would be no need for the food Nazi's to start with. I also realize that there's a need to keep bringing your own stuff in check or it will get out of control, but those prices are nothing short of gouging, period. If those prices are actually necessary to make a respectable profit, there are too many hands in the till.

NHRA has to get their cut. :(

I remember when McD's was coming to NHRA and I was thinking great cheap eats. I went to Indy that year
only Quarter pounders available but that was expected by name. Well all you got was a naked burger and you
had to DIY all the condiments. And it wasn't cheap.

Just doing some research and it's pretty difficult to find much information on vendor policies either at the NHRA website or individual track websites.

At Pomona at least you can eat the food. Unlike Maple Grove where you pay the high prices and have to throw away the food.

The food at Gainseville is okay. Price is high but they know they have a captive audience that can't go anywhere else.

I think a better phrase, is a 'captured audience'. I have to wonder if they charged a reasonable price, would they make more sales in quantity, because I find it hard to believe, any averaged income individual, would pay $12 for a sandwich at a racetrack !!

What do you throw away John? Brickers chicken and fries are great. I see so many people eating those sobe noodles all weekend long (not me).

I don't think the NHRA gets any cut from the food vendors - those relationships only are between the vendors and the tracks. Back when "the Colonel" owned Brainerd, I remember hearing that he voided all previous vendor agreements, and began charging vendors a significantly larger fee for space rental plus 25 or 30 percent of the vendors' GROSS sales receipts.

Just reading all the comments about the food prices along with the quality of the food and people at the gates checking bags and other things you carry in for bottles of water or food make me realize why fan attendance is down at many tracks in all forms of racing.

And this is without even thinking about the ticket prices!!! Plenty of great reasons why attendance might be suffering at some events.

It's the same at just about any sporting event that I have ever attended. Getting in and out of the pits for the Monster Supercross race at Anaheim Stadium can be brutal if you get there at the wrong time. First you have to get in line to go through a metal detector, then you get in line to go through the ticket gate, and then you get into another line to go through another gate to go to the pits which makes you walk all the way to the back of the pits so that you have to walk past all of the vendors before you get to the race teams. If you want to go back out to your car then you have to do it all again even though there are attendants at a gate letting crew members in and out. Don't get me started on the high priced food there. But, they seem to pack the place twice a year.

The last time I was at a Timberwolves game, (Which was a while ago.) they were charging absolutely outrageous prices for food and drink. The prices were so high, I refused to buy a single thing.

Nothing like paying a fortune to get in, then forking over top dollar at the concession stand, but to me the icing on the cake is the Porta Potty Police that sit there and hound on you for tips just because they rope off the area and tell you which door has a green tag showing and not the red one.
