Our congress will be voting net week on a bill designed to cause you plenty of economic pain in the name of political science known as global warming.

Here's the EPA's own estimate on what this bill called the Warner Lieberman Bill will do:

1.8 million jobs will be lost

44% increase to each consumer in energy costs

the cost to the US is over 1 Trillion

CAN WE AFFORD THIS BULL SH!T based on something that Al Gore won't even debate? Call you congress man and tell them HELL NO before they sell us and our children's future down the river to an economic meltdown .

No, it effects us all. Even you will feel the effects of it as will all of drag racing.

Yep but all the Presidential Cantidates including McCain are for it.
Next year when Bush is gone it's a done deal and the neutering of our economy begains.
Enjoy Folks !

I'd say it at least began the day that progressive taxes were put in place.

Progressive tax - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karl Marx argued for a progressive income tax in The Communist Manifesto: "In the most advanced countries the following will be pretty generally applicable: a heavy progressive or graduated income tax."

Check out one of the reasons given in favor of it.

It is inherent in tax policy that it implements economic and social policy. People who are concerned about a runaway, cancerous character in the global economy, greenhouse gases, etc., see benefits in progressive taxation, both in its braking effect on the economy and in helping shape economic activities towards necessities more effectively than purely monetary or fiscal policies.

How nice is it that what I call "robust economies", they associate with cancer? I would HOPE that a good economy would spread like a bad cancer! Increases in greenhouse gases is a valid reason for you not to enjoy a good economy? Isn't this admitting that they know this does NOT give you be best overall economy?

Reminds me of an anti-inflation politician who once complained "There's too much consumin' going on out there!"

Seconded...

I think the reasons for being for or against certain aspects of economic policies can be talked about without being political, at all. I just did in my previous post.

This is what I've complained about. This is an Act to be voted on by politicians but, it can be discussed without being political. If we must continue in political segregation, how about a moderator remove all political posts (as in "one side" is inherently anything) from this topic and let us continue to discuss the topic and the reasons for having our beliefs that pertain to it and leave the thread right here.

We could be talking about any world event and, as soon as one person says "Republican this" or "Democrat that" someone else can then ask "Can this be moved to the politics room?"

Geez. If Congress was voting on banning nitro or drag racing, any post on the topic in the NHRA section could come with requests to move it to the politics room.

The entire thread, beginning with the title ("The Economic Distruction (sic) Act...") is political.

Here's the first of many general definitions of the word "politics" that I see on Webster's online.

"Politics is the study of decision-making power (who's got it, and who hasn't) at the inter-social and societal levels."

That means that how many threads in the NHRA section ABOUT the NHRA are actually political? How many Bruton Smith threads? How many threads about race teams? It doesn't have to be about government to be political.

Politics

As I just posted, a LOT of threads on this board fit the definition of being "political."

What seems political to me is when anyone includes mention of one of our two major "political" (LOL) parties as a way of making a point. I believe I could say "George Bush believes this" without being political, at all. He's a politician but, he's also still human. If I said "The Republican, George Bush, believes this" then, I think I've made it political.

It may just be my opinion but, I believe that just about any topic, including the laws we're forced to live under that are enacted by our government, can be discussed without being political. Not only that, I think they SHOULD be. How important would our love for drag racing be if they outlawed it tomorrow? How about wanting economic policies that put more money in the pockets of people so they CAN participate in the sport of drag racing? Hell, that's where most of my economics beliefs come from!

Sure, hide this in the politics room where all affected will never see it! Genius! When Man or Government believes it can legislate what God ultimately controls, Man or Government needs a wake up call from Him! I say we all better duck!

if it's being voted on in congress, it's politics.

not too hard to categorize that I don't think.

What aspect of our lives HASN'T been voted on in Congress, including the internet, itself?

Again, maybe it's just me but, I think you should be able to discuss your beliefs/reasoning/the nuts and bolts of nearly any issue WITHOUT being political.
