TF 2 car incident Finland

A: Hard to tell from the video what happened, but whatever it was, it wasn't good. Very glad both guys were OK.
B: Nice tuneup Bodie! Woulda been #1.
C: I think it is very cool that nitro is getting burned all over the world.
D: Look at that track!?!?! No guard rails beyond the quarter mile, not a particularly long shut off area, sand pit and then trees ... lots of trees. Should give folks a different perspective on ETown or Pomona.

What the hell is the white "towel" hanging from the rear wing support on the red car ? ? I had to replay it a couple times to make sure I wasn't imagining it. I thought it was like a "remove before flight" type of safety flag locking out something on the chutes or something - but nobody touches it ???

looks to me from the colours to be the flag of Finland.(Risto's home country)

yes, it's the finnish flag.

really glad to see both walk from this....scary.

like chris said - very cool to see nitro burning all around the planet

video has great sound.

it was a real shame as Risto's car was a brand new car that was a spare from the bernstein's. this was it's 7th pass ever i believe.

but also a massive well done to risto and the entire team for putting together a spare over night getting it out for Q4 putting it straight into number 1 and ending up runner up with low et of the race.

I've been to Alastaro which is north of Helsinki near Turkku. The track is very nice and has the best track food I've tasted.

Back in the dot.com days it wasn't unusual for 32 Pro Stocks to show up for a race. Nokia made so many of the Finns multi-millionaires they even had full time crews. The Nordic countries are full of American iron.

Tommi Laine was a multi time Pro Stock champ. He left Finland to make his fortune over here. He worked for Glidden, Schmidt, and others. He can make a Pro Stock car go very fast.

Just wondering why the Euro countries run to 1000' ? We still run the whole 1/4 down under.

cheers,
Mark.

in europe we run the full 1/4 at Santa Pod in the 1st and last rounds of the championship and at Hockenheim Germany as they have long enough shut down areas. at alastaro finland they have no walls beyond the quarter mark so they race to a 1000 and at mantorp in Sweden is a very short shutdown area before a turn off so they race to the thousand there also

wait? .........what?.........different lengths at different tracks?
how can that be? .........must cost them a fortune :o:rolleyes:
