Texas Mile

I've seen similar events in Hot Rod magazine. All kinds of cars show up. Looks really cool.

I was going to go to last years event with my son, but we had other things come up and were unable to attend. We were going to take our Mustang just for fun to see what kind of speed it would run topped out!!! Woulda, coulda, shoulda...we sold the stang a few months back.:(

A real sleeper at these events is a guy I race with. Mike Reichen. He drives a Mitsubishi Evo II (From Japan). It is an AWD car that has been 202 MPH at one of the events. He was in a recent issue of Hot Rod. Car has run 8.9 @ 158 at one event this year. Very impressive car.

There is an old airstrip in North Carolina called Maxton. Many go there to run top end speeds. From everything I have read there are lots of cars and bikes that show up to race and the speeds are pretty insane. Sounds like a good time!

Just happened to see that very car running at the texas mile last night on tv. It was a show called Record Breakers that was half of the show with something called Rapid Turnover--both were "Launch Hour" experimental Rich Christensen shows--Rapid Turnover was a waste, but the record breakers segment was worth catching.. I'm sure it will be rerun on Speed. The Evo went 202. I was very impressed--it looks so stock. I'd really like to get a chance to see some runs at the Texas Mile
