State of Your College Fball Team?

Little Johnny was in his 5th grade class when the
teacher asked the children what their fathers did for
a living. All the typical answers came up --- fireman,
policeman, salesman, etc...

Little Johnny was being uncharacteristically quiet and
so the teacher asked him about his father. "My
father's an exotic dancer in a gay cabaret and takes
off all his clothes in front of other men. Sometimes, if
the offer's really good, he'll go out to the alley
with some guy and make love with him for money." The
teacher, obviously shaken by this statement, hurriedly
set the other children to work on some coloring, and
took Little Johnny aside to ask him, "Is that really
true about your father?
"No," said Little Johnny, "He coaches Michigan
football, but I was too embarrassed to say that in
front of the other kids."

Hey, good to hear from ya, Tim! Looks like Tom and I are going the donation to a worthy cause route instead of the avatar thing. Thanks for all the support for the huskers along the way--I'll be pulling for the Horns in their bowl game also. The OU NU champ game should be a good one, but I have to admit OU looks pretty scary! Lots of talent there. I think NU has a fair amount of talent also if we can put it all together at one time. Hope it's a good game at least!

By the way, anyone besides me follow college volleyball? I'm really addicted to good college vb, and some of the best teams in the country are in the big 12. Sadly, the NU vb team is #1 in the nation, and hardly anyone in the state even knows about it! NU played #8 Texas this weekend (I thought of you, Tim!) and beat them in straight sets. Guess that's just the way it goes living in a football state, huh? Tim, have you ever checked out the Horns VB team? They are really good with a couple of devastating hitters and good defense. Ok, enough about vb on the football thread. Teri, the logo as PJs avatar looks great!!! Go Huskers?

Hey Terry, I havent followed VB at Texas much this year, but I have in years past. Ever since Mira Topic and Bethanny Howden left I havent followed much. (2years or so) Texas just lost there top player a few weeks ago Brandi Maggee (I think thats her name) and have been trying to replace her ever since.

Fun game to watch, isn't it?? When they built the big new Devaney center for the worthless NU basketball team (they suck year after year after year.....) they "gave" the old coliseum to the VB team since they "didn't have room for them" in the Devaney center. So they took it and made it "their house" and they are sold out every darn game--something the BB team NEVER could do, and now it looks even worse with them playing in the Devaney center--more empty seats than filled ones, but the VB team just rocks the ol' coliseum building. It's kinda cool. Texas has a hitter named Hooker (no comments there) that is a devastating hitter.

A $20 donation to DRAW sounds great to me, Tom! And I agree about Callahan--and don't get me wrong, I have a great deal of respect for what Stoops and co have done at OU, and I think he's a great coach--just some of the things he says sort of rub me the wrong way--Probably just like Callahan would if I wasn't a husker fan. Truce on the coaches??

Geez, that was a long time ago but to answer your question, yes I remember Tinker well! I'm not sure where he is now but Steve is still in Norman. I ran into him at the Fort Lauderdale airport after that dreadful Orange Bowl ordeal a couple of years ago. He was obviously disappointed as were the rest of us but was also philosophical about the whole thing and pointed out that every big-time coach had a similar debacle happen at one time or another.

As for new wrinkles for this weekend... Bob made me promise not to tell.

Shame on Bob! I'm SURE if Callahan had any tricks up his sleeve for this weekend, he'd be sure to share them with with Bob! Did some thinkin' about this upcoming game last night concerning OSU. OU beat OSU in a pretty close game, but OSU really dismantled us. Granted it wasn't our best game we played, but we didn't seem to be able to deal with OSU at all except for our patented 1st quarter fireworks. That being said, based on that comparison, we're in trouble this weekend. What do you think about validity of comparison scores, Tom?

That's great news! Don't tell Tom, but I think the Huskers are gonna need all the help they can get. OU may very well be the 2nd best team in the country right now...although it pains me to admit it. I'm also guessing the Michigan fans will probably disagree with that observation, huh?

Teryy, I have no doubt that the Cornhuskers can handle OU!!! Texas played both teams this year and I can tell you that Nebraska has a very balanced team compared to OU. If Texas was playing Nebraska (texas before the "slump") I would be very worried about getting blown out by Nebraska.
