St. Louis 2025 (13 Viewers)

Either way, that's great news to have a sellout. I think it shows that local track ownership, and the track event Title sponsor, have a major impact on attendance here because they do a lot of advertising in the St. Louis region........
have to agree jon, and on a saturday. would be nice to know how close to a sellout sunday will be? will they be close to a sellout? or miss it by a lot?
seems important, as the fans are probably telling nhra they want to be entertained on a saturday, even though they are not really racing.

Historically, Sunday events of any kind tend to sell less than Saturday, regardless of the time of year. Yes, this time of year we have football, but people can be very good at multi-tasking their sports. They can follow a game and still watch the action on the track.
I think that Sunday at NHRA drags should be the same price or even less than Saturday, to encourage Sunday attendance.

I think it shows that local track ownership, and the track event Title sponsor, have a major impact on attendance here because they do a lot of advertising in the St. Louis region. People have to be told there is a race to see. They can't be expected to just find out on their own. I think this is a big reason attendance is low at other tracks - particularly NHRA owned tracks. They do almost no advertising. And we see the unfortunate results.
We were their in 2023 and it was sold out in 90 degree weather, pretty sure it was last year too. What you describe is how they got their inaugural Enjoy Illinois 300 Nascar cup race in 2021 which I attended.

Millican popped another blower in q3 at the finish line. Car dropped a cylinder and they legged it out and it blew. Looked relatively minor, but they had the car completely torn down in the pits and didn’t make Q4. Poop.

Congrats Zizzo (lane choice), Ferre, Ida, and Kyle with lane choice!

This may be a state by state deal, but can tracks sell more tickets than there are seats? Lots of people walk around and stand by the fence, but is there a guideline?

The other comments on attendance are great but if anyone knows if people that show up are actually denied admission please let me know. Thanks

David,

"Sold Out" means you have sold a ticket for every available seat. And that's not an NHRA thing, that's the standard for every field or arena for any sport or entertainment venue. You can still sell "General Admission" or "Standing Room Only". You don't have to turn fans away to have a legitimate sell out for the day.

Last time I know of that happening was the last race at Bandimere. They had sold tickets beyond the physical capacity of the facility, as in fire marshal says that's it. And they didn't even open the box office Saturday or Sunday.

And I have been there when NHRA was less than 100 sold tickets short, and they won't make that claim if it isn't true.

Thanks for the info Alan !

How about that final Pro Modified session? I love it when there is constant bumping in the final session! and how about that field spread: 0.051-seconds. It's like we went back to Pro Stock in the mid-90s!
