The full time drivers/teams are NOT the best out there they are the ones who have the funding. Think of how many great teams have come and gone because of no funding.

the well funded can attract the best crew guys and competitve chiefs. There are still alot of former full timers who love the sport and can afford to do it part time as well as guys like Tobler who will help them occasionally. For the most part drivers bring money not necessarily the best talent. There have always been more good drivers out there than cars.

Yup, and I'd say that applies to virtually every motorsport.

I don't think it's a matter of him not having a clue because let's face it, if you're not in the pit area, you won't know because the coverage certainly won't tell you. And @Jon Clark , apologies if my response came off as confrontational, it was not meant to be.

But I am genuinely curious why it is assumed that part time teams are underfunded? Teams like Spencer, Zizzo, Wurtzel, etc that come out and make noise are not underfunded in my mind. They are properly funded for the races they attend and maybe that's where some of the other part time teams could learn something. If you have proper funding to do 5 races the correct way, focus on those. Don't try to stretch that into 8 races because that's where you can get yourself in trouble. Spencer's crew all have a decade plus experience on fuel cars and most of them have worked together for at least that long. I'd put their chemistry up against any full time corporate team.
