So Who Signed Your License? (1 Viewer)

Good story. When we got Yuichi Oyama his T/F license, I had Del Worsham sign the first run, Kenny Bernstein sign the second run, and John Force sign the last one. After John signed the last one, he took Yuichi over to the beer cooler and had a beer with him. Yuichi thought he had died and gone to heaven. Good times…….
 
My favorite Yuichi story was when he had a translator that would hang out on the starting line, then jump on a scooter to get the the top end to be there when he came off the track.

I told the translator I was going to ask what the difference was racing in America and what was the answer? Then have him aswer in Jaaonese.

He told me the answer, and I did the interview, Yuichi answered in Lapanese.

I said: For those of you who don't speak Japanese, what he said was. "The level of competition was much higher here but all the Americans were very accommodating, have welcomed me and I am grateful for the friendships."

For the next few races, I kept having fans come up to me and saying: I had no idea you spoke Japanese!

I have many talents that are not widely known.......

Hey Chuck, I was watching NHRA.tv yesterday and Brian Lohnes was talking about the changes in wheelbase rules over the years, and I believe he mentioned you built a 320 inch TF car before NHRA put the 300 in. limit into place.

WOW I wish I had a recording of that. Actually I have the blueprint signed and dated by Graham Light for a 320" dragster. Unfortunately when we went to build it the longest we could build due to the size of the shop and the location of the jig was 300". The car had bottom frame rail "sliders" and fuel through the bottom frame rails. When it came off the jig before we began assembly we fly the tech inspector in to have it certified. The look on his face was priceless when he saw it had a 300" WB versus the 250 - 265 that was standard at the time. Thank you for you comment.
