Just wondering...why has not much been said about the over all design of the current sand trap? NHRA has had that stupid azz berm at the beginning of the trap for how long? Works fine for a car or motorcycle at realatively low speeds (125 or lower) but not fuel cars. I have an idea...why don't we just build a ramp down there and see how far we can launch em. You saw it happen with Worsham's car at Pomona in 06 also. The sand can't slow ya down if you are not in it. So...how bout making the entrance level with the track, smooth and groomed, extend about 100' and then start a steep uphill climb (just like a runaway truck ramp-45 degree or so). If you have to go in the beach, it should take a tractor to pull you out. Yeah, probably break chassis and tear chit up, but at least it should stop you.
