Return to 1/4 mile (1320ft.)

Check out how aerodynamic the new Prius is, imagine that was a Pro Stock, Pro Mod, or Funny Car...It just seems to me that the days of "Stock" and "Showroom" are over. Does it really matter any longer of a car is front or rear wheel drive or electric from the factory if the brand a body style can be used in any particular class? I say open it all up and make the sport and classes a lot more interesting and entertaining...

I had written in another post, under another thread, I'd love to see a Nostalgia Pro Stock class. Maybe it's time, for you're correct, stock and showroom certainly have a different meaning now.

And.....Trucks are still RWD. Time to resurrect a Pro Stock Truck class? Might fill a void, draw new interest.

As big as the new trucks are, might as well race the tractor trailer rigs.

Since pickups out sell cars every year seems like a Pro Stock Truck class would be more popular now? Wonder if Nhra exec's ever read what fans are saying here on Nitromater?

I think the big three still make a mid size truck
No, Ram does not, Plus the new midsize trucks are the same same as my 1996 Dodge 1500 extended cab. When my friends seen it then they thought it was the biggest truck they had ever seen. Remember trucks were racing Chevy S-10 size trucks back then.

Thanks for info 👍

Why not put any body you want on a PS chassis ? Take a current spec chassis, drivetrain and skin it in what ever you want to. Engine and body do not need to match now anyways. I could care less at this point what engine it is as they are all GM based now. Lets just get something other than a Camaro on the track.

There you go. Bada Bing, Bada Boom!

That’s the problem with PS now.
As long as cross breeding engines and body styles is allowed, PS for me is the best time to vacate the bleachers and go get an overpriced hamburger and drink.
I prefer watching throttle stop racing instead of PS.

Don't forget the newer "small" trucks - the Santa Cruz, Maverick, etc. I'm sure GM and Stellantis/Ram have something in the works too. But those might be turbo 4/AWD vehicles, not sure.
That class of trucks is unibody with a front wheel drive oriented drivetrain. So they aren't really any closer to a typical race car configuration than any other modern sedan or crossover SUV. Doesn't necessarily mean that there isn't potential there, but it's not like the S10s and Rangers that were traditional body-on-frame with a longitudinal drivetrain and RWD from the factory.

When they had the multiple brands, models weren't a bunch of them factory FWD cars ?? GXP, Cobalt, Dart, etc. ???

Yes, and that required a complete suspension of any pretense that there was any connection to that vehicle whatsoever. They needed a body to drop on the chassis that they could say vaguely represented some kind of production model because they didn't have any other options. Which again is fine, it's just one of the arguments for trucks is that they are still RWD with a frame, but that's not the case with these.

Are you guys REALLY saying that you would stay in the stands to watch a Hyundai Palisade, Chevy Equinox, GMC Terrain, Buick Enclave, Dodge Durango, Toyota Highlander, Nissan Murano, Ford Explorer, etc. etc. race? What would they run? 8s at 150 mph or so?

I'm not buying it.....

YES, anything would be better than 16 Camaros........I am being honest. Even when Dodge, which you realize is my brand, was running there weren't that many but at least you had something. And if they started winning people would be excited to see it. It is not always about how fast, it is about racing and diversity of winners. No matter how hardcore you are if Camaro wins every week you get tired of it.
No matter what motorsport it is when one driver, team, brand starts winning too much it gets old and boring to watch.
