A sad, sad day for drag racing. My heart goes out to the Kalitta family and the members of Kalitta Racing. :(

Rip Scott and best wishes and prayers to his family. I can only hope that the specualtion is kept down and something good will surface.

I am absolutely crushed . I have found myself with such a heavy heart that I cant remember when I last felt this way . My prayers , thoughts , and condolences are with the Kalitta family . I cant even think straight now .

God Speed Scott .

Our thoughts and prayers go to the Kalitta family and friends.
God speed Scott.

My heart is filled with sadness. :(

Damn, this hurts bad.

Thank you Scotty for the great, great, memories.

I dont want to start a new thread about this but Iam very surprised at the amount of media attention this is getting, all over the news, front headline on MSN, etc. and they do have some nice articles and pictures. I wish we could get this attention all of the time but regardless, all of motorsports has come together today to remember Scott. Nascar continually said their thoughts and prayers were with everyone and even did a moment of silence for Scott before the race. Im still shocked over the whole deal and cant stop thinking about his family but at the same time all I can picture is him, Blaine, Darrel, and Eric all up in heaven looking down on us...smiling!

This one hurts pretty bad...

He was as tough as they come and we're all going to miss him.

Thanks for the memories, Scott!

I agree i live here in detroit and our local fox news lead the 10pm newscast with the story. they noted that kalitta was from this area. karl edwards didnt do his trademark backflip because he had heard the news and said what a sad day this was. i stood in my garage and cried!! my goodness how can they keep racing at 330mph? rip scott

I am currently in Canada and found out about this tragedy via voicemail from a friend.

To say that this has put a dark cloud over my day would be an understatement.

My thoughts and prayers are with Connie, Cathy, Corey, Colin and all of his family and friends.

Scott, you are ina better place now, but we all still wish you were here with us.

It leaves me with a terrible sense of loss. Such a wonderful guy, just doing what he loved. I can't imagine what the whole Kalitta family is feeling right now.

God graced us with your presence one fine day.
We never once looked away.
We learned you held no fear,
As God graced us with you for a year.

We knew your heart beat each minute,
As you kept your foot right in it.
At full throttle and all power,
This should have been your finest hour.

God graced us with your presence one fine day.
Then He called you to come away.
