Rest in Peace Scott, It is my loss for not having known you personally

I wish I'd had the opportunity to meet Scott. He sounds like the type of person I seek to be friends with. Not to mention, he was a hell of a driver!

His family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers. May they find a way to grieve and move on......something tells me that Scott would prefer to have his life celebrated!

Good Point Kelly

"Subject: Scott's Memorial Service

Hello all.

Kathy Kalitta has asked that the memorial service be more of a celebration of Scott's life and has requested that all team crew members wear their crew shirts to the memorial service. Please let's pass this along to anyone I may have forgotten. Thank you."

Now that I got my name verified, I can finally pass on my condolences. Scotty will definitely be missed by so many. Growing up in the Drag Racing world since I was a fetus 42 years ago, there are a many people who were extra special to me and when I had the opportunity to make it to Pomona in the last few years. The Kalitta pit was was one of the first pit stops I made. Jim O and Tammy, my prayers are with you both. As with everybody else affected by this tragedy.

It was an ongoing joke with Scott and I that every time I saw him I would ask him for his autograph. Of course he never gave it to me and just laughed at me like I was crazy.

Since Randy Green and I are good friends, there were many races that I was spent milling around the Kalitta pit area. I always made chocolate chip cookies for my favorite guys and eventually the "Hi Shawne, how are you" comments ended and all I'd hear was "Where's the Cookies!"

It still seems so surreal that he's gone. I know that he's in a good place and as hard as that is for a lot of people to grasp, simply because we're human and want our loved ones here on earth with us, maybe it can be some comfort that he is in the arms of God. He's there in the great race track in the sky an I'd imagine that my Dad's already found him and made him welcome.

It was because of Scott that I won my Dad's motor home from him. About 15 years ago or so, when there was still room for my Dad to park the motor home in the pits, he kept arguing with me about a time that Scott had run. I knew I was right and he thought he was. Well, I was and the motor home was then mine. Thank you Scott!

What else to say except the typical "time will heal" "life goes on" "blah blah blah". This one is going to take a while for time to heal as Scott and the entire Kalitta clan isn't just another Drag Racing Team, they are family. Not just to each other but to so many others who are in this life and truly appreciate the hard work and dedication that they put into their jobs each and every day.

God Speed Scotty. Send me an autograph already! My thoughts and prayers are with you all and I'm sending hugs to each and every one of you.

Always, Shawne Osterman (Putzel's Daughter)

From Susie and the entire Al Hofmann Family,
Scott was a fierce competitor and an intense personality. We sincerely hope Al was at the front gate to hug him and slug him and offer him a front seat while Atomic Al holds court.
We know how it is first hand to lose a husband, father, son, cousin and friend. Our broken hearts reach out to the Kalitta's.
To Jim O and John O hugs to you..."Aunt Susie"

I didn't realize I had taken this pic, but it now holds a real special place in my heart now, and I shouldn't have to explain why. This is from Maple Grove in 2006.
