Qualifying question

Why do the run Top Fuel before Funny Car in qualifying at certain events? Not losing any sleep over this one, i'm just curious.

If I remember correctly its b/c the FC field is alot tighter and has alot more cars in it and it gives them more of a chance to make the field. I could be wrong but I think thats right.

On Friday's FC is first followed by TF and Saturday TF is first followed by FC.

Saturdays Fuelers Run first...

and on Sunday... Fuelers out first... but are the final pair down the track

TF is the Top Class....
Floppers are 2nd in Importance....

Then the gas burning stuff...

Ok, then I stand corrected. I just remembered one race they said something about letting them run later so I thought they did it permanetly.

The reasoning for it makes good sense. However, my Dad swore it was done to keep the crowd at the track longer to watch Force, and hopefully selling a few more hot dogs along the way.

I think Pomona and Indy are the exceptions to the rule...
At Pomona Top Fuel runs last on Thursday and Saturday because of the single sessions on Thursday and Friday.
At Indy Top Fuel runs last on Friday and Sunday because of the extra [5th] qualifying session.
