On the WJ/KJ consistency issue--I too have a great amount of respect for the knowledge and the contributions to pro stock via WJ. And John' got a point about relative HP if what we all have believed is true for sometime--ET is setup (to a large degree) and MPH is HP. (My gosh, a Chevy and a Mopar guy agreeing again?) But the consistency issue brings to mind an interview I saw long ago that still makes me chuckle to this day:Hasn't Greg Anderson or Jason Line held the MPH record (until last week's Houston race) for several years? Edwards 212.03 record run in Houston was far better than any other car. I think saying Warren has more HP than the field is more retrospective than anything. He used to, but doesn't anymore. And yes...his chassis tune up continues to be a challenge. I don't understand why Kurt's car is consistent and Warren's isn't. It was that way all last season as well.
The field has narrowed, but Greg and Jason are still the cars to beat each week. We all look at their numbers as a barometer for how the rest of the field is doing.
It was early in Kurt's driving career, and he was notorious for playing with the car, usually to the detriment of the car's performance. When interviewed about the situation, WJ replied something to the nature of: "I'm gonna go get that car straightened out and then weld all of the 4 link in place". That being said, I can't help but wonder if time, as it often does, has turned those tables?
