The big motors are less efficient but I'd probably stay in the stands to watch them.
I remember Darin Morgan saying a while back that the 800inch engines are the equivilant to trying to run a 400 SBC with something like 1.5" intake valves. He also said that at the speed they're turning them (which isn't nearly as high as the 500 inchers) the piston is trying to outrun the flame-front. One other thing he said is that those mountain motors have the highest piston speed of any racing engine because of the huge crank stroke.
