PBIR Car Count

I often questioned the logic in testing at Pbr. It's 2200 mile round trip from Indy. Than turn around and head west the 2100 miles.
It's 1700 to Phoenix from Indy to test then only another 350 to Pomona.
And that doesn't take into the rain factor. Just my thoughts

No matter where the test has been, it seems like they will only be there for a few years. Phoenix and Tucson used to be the hot setup, then that died down a bit, then everyone went to Vegas for a few years, then that died down, then everyone went to PBIR and now that is dying down too. I would think that they would prefer to test at Phoenix or Vegas, at least the data collected could be applicable in a race situation.

It also seems to me, that whenever they start advertising it as an "event" and sell tickets is when the teams start to look for somewhere else to test, or even worse, they do their testing in the middle of the week. That happened to me a few times here in Vegas, pay $20 to get in on Saturday or Sunday (or both) and see all of the team's rigs in the pit area and they might make one 330ft squirt. Then read online about the multiple laps and big numbers put up on Monday and Tuesday when no one was there to see it, or would have been allowed in to see it.

I attended all of the LVMS preseason 'Nitro Blast Off' events a few years back when I lived there and thought the track was always pretty stellar for testing, though very cool, usually much cooler than what the teams experience in April/Oct.

It was very fan friendly with most of the drivers in more of a relaxed mood and very accessible.

Saw Bernstein unveil the Monster FC, Hillary Will walk away from a horrifying crash.

Even though I moved away, I was bummed for LV to see the popular testing event get pulled away to another track.

It used to be the same way in Phoenix. I had my daughter with me on the starting line when Hillary made a run.

Vegas Pre Season testing would have been applicable last year ... we froze our bean bags off at the April national event.

PBIR is in jupiter; it's flippin' beautiful there.....one last fun in the sun before the season starts
- unbelievable golf / wonderful restaurants / deep sea fishing......it's perfect.

When I lived in Scottsdale, I really enjoyed the warmups at Firebird. Like many have mentioned, the laid back atmosphere, small crowd, and the drivers milling around without the pressure of a national event made it a lot of fun to hang out.

Speaking of testing, they definitely are not legal when testing. Some teams use electronics to control the clutch and glean data from that as to how to set the timers when they run legally (no electronic controls).

Back in the day- I seen robert height test at lvms rookie season . second day - john and robert ran both lanes to get robert used to car next to him
