PBIR Car Count

I remember in 1999-2001 they tested in Tucson, and the crowds were insane! For more than Firebird ever got!

I think that will be the last of the major week long testing at PBIR. For whatever reason, the track has a very small window to get it to go 100 feet. You shake, then you jack it up to not shake and smoke the tires. Go back it down, and shake again. I'd say of all the funny car passes over 5 days, maybe 15-20% made it. Very frustrating. No question you could give it all you want through the middle but good luck getting there.

Actually, all that tire smoke is the reason why there is no night qualifying at the Gatornationals. When it gets nightfall in FL the dewpoint rises and makes it very tough to apply power to the ground. At least, that is what people have told me (Some who actually race there regularly).

Has nothing to do with dew, or any of that. From 9 am to whenever they quit, the track was giving them fits. Most of the floppers tested about 4 runs a day Wed-Sat and maybe got down the track 2 or 3 times total.

Weather conditions were not close to dewpoint during the two evening sessions. Worst humidity reading on the two days was 65%.

Was Chad Head not there doing the track prep? I know that is why everyone loved that place in the beginning, he prepped the track exactly as the teams wanted.
