NHRA's ad budget

And a whopping 23,000 people have viewed it. Infomercials on the Oxygen channel at 3am get better ratings...

Sorry, but, that was a huge disappointment. Focus was entirely on nitro cars. Although, I'm sure that is just fine with the Pro Stock/Bike/Pro Mod/Alcohol/Sportsman haters. Aside from that, way long of an intro, almost half the video was Dave talking. Should've cut Reiff's intro out and the first thing you see/hear is the music with Sarge launching. For TV/YouTube purposes it needs to be aggressive in your face attention getting in an attempt to gain new fans. Also, might be a good idea to include more than just nitro, unless NHRA now stands for Nitro Hot Rod Association

Keith is right, there are 400-600 cars at a national event, but this thing is solely about ~35 of them. If you ever needed any more proof that NHRA is all nitro all the time (aside from the TV coverage, where all PP does is pimp the nitro) and that sportsmen are little more than a pita and filler, this is it. In all the several hundred quick cut flashes they couldn't throw in a few other cars, maybe as a tradeoff for all the "hot babe" shots?

Chris, let me start this by saying I see your standpoint and agree with it to a point. However, I also see NHRA's. When they made that youtube video I am sure they were trying to target some new fans that have never seen/been to the sport. To the brand new fan, sex is going to sell a lot more than some of the stockers. Again, to the new/casual fan, they have to be thinking why watch these slower cars when I can watch these louder/faster cars?

Oh, I see that and understand it. But one of the coolest things about an NHRA national event is the stunning variety of cars. There are dozens: rails, funny cars, altereds, roadsters, motorcycles, wheel standing street cars, station wagons, trucks, rice burners, etc., etc.

All I'm saying is that the editors really lost out an opportunity to show, in maybe a dozen or so of the hundreds of fast flash clips that went whipping by in those 2.5 minutes, to show some of that variety. Don't even talk about it, don't even make it 10% of it. Just show some of it. But... alas, it's all nitro all the time.

Nothing they show on TV or the internet will get someone to drive out to the track if they haven't before. What it takes is someone who already is a fan, taking the first timers out there and show it to them....

Drag racing is a sensory experience that you have to see and feel to appreciate.

An NHRA ad focusing on big speed, big crashes and explosions... ****ing terrific. With this marketing the sport is doomed.

With many of us long time fans not attending these days, that doesn't happen as much as it used to.

Simply look in the stands when the door slammers, etc are running, nearly empty. That shows me why the attention is directed to Nitro. You can see door cars every day at your local track. Plus I don’t want to see racing when the two drivers are looking at each other when they are racing.

That had to be the frist take. Dave nailed it on the first one ,then they moved me over because of my t-shirt wasn't approved by NHRA. He did a couple more takes ,but I guess it was easier to fog out my shirt, than to edit the others.

That was you in the blurred out shirt? Cool! But, why in the world would a shirt have to be "approved?"

Because they arn't an offical sponsor of the NHRA. there was a guy there that had a Ringers Glove sign and they pushed him way back. Told him to keep it down.
