What if NHRA tracks had scoreboards like these: (1 Viewer)

Watch this and keep your eyes on the scoreboard numbers' font/color/meaning. I've cued it up right to the moment. LOUD SOUND WARNING!

This is the Perth Motorplex in Australia. Those are some nice big numbers that I can easily read! But moreover, they display the drivers' reaction times! And the winner's numbers turn green. I would really like to see that here in the states. Gentlemen, we can rebuild him them. We have the technology.

Also check out that big fv(%!#G tv!!! Holy bigscreen, that is a nice tv.
Here is the tv again:

and for a giggle, watch the left crewmember's hands and the blower pulley area. Notice he closes a little door in front of the blower pulley. Isn't that the cutest little door you've ever seen on the hood of a Camaro? 🥰

That would be up to the track not NHRA. THe systems already list reaction times but most tracks turn them of in eliminations

I'm disappointed that Las Vegas doesn't have more 'fancy' scoreboards. With all of the cool things we have in and outside of the casinos, our scoreboards could total compete with and surpass those.

MLB has scoreboards with tons of details about the game in real time. Baseball is heavy on statistics and so is drag racing. NHRA Drag racing should scoreboards like baseball and they could take them to each track just like they do with the big screen. Heck, use the big screen if the information could be big enough to read from the cheap seats. It should list the car name, driver's name, crew chief's name, qualifying position in real time, points in real time and even the ladder. The big screens shouldn't show the cars on the track UNLESS its an instant replay of something awesome. Better scoreboards are way overdue.

oooh I did not know that. Never seen reaction times posted on any scoreboard anywhere.

ooooh LVMS scoreboards are a pet peeve of mine. Can't read them day or night. A simple, black, sheer scrim would fix them for cheap. Love the facility/track tho.

I'm always amazed how hard the scoreboards are to read. Or when the whatever vision is at the track but only visable from 1/4 of the seats. Having something over or slightly behind the starting line area for all to see

Bandimere has really easy scoreboards to read. By far the best of any National event track. Galot Motorsport Park has the best scoreboards in all of drag racing. They are video boards that you would find at any other sporting event.

The track in the country of Malta has R/T and then 1/8 times and finally 1/4 times. A bit hard to read, but I thought it was cool to see.

Watching the Aussie videos. One crew member has a shirt that says "Don't worry, I cable tied it". Thought that was funny.

I would like to see scoreboards that show r/t, name of driver and crewchief and give basic information such as engine and chassis manufacturer. Also the (now) tiny "Winston Vision" video screens are @ least 40 years behind current video technology

Todays nitro cars are travelling so fast over a short(er) distance, you almost need a slo mo replay to figure what just happened. It's sensious overload in real time.

That’s why I don’t complain when you hear talk of slowing them down, lol.

those emc's at galot are the way to go. they are really nice. you can display as much or as little, large or small, as you want......and play ads during downtime.

That’s my home track :)
The big screen there is the most well placed at any drag strip in the world in my opinion - and I’ve seen a few tracks now. It is huge and really adds to the atmosphere.
They also have a second big screen that folds open from a truck.
The readout boards are actually video screens too, and in theory you can put logos etc on them, though they don’t ever do that. While they are big and easy to read, they do seem to be more sensitive than the traditional boards - especially in the heat.

A shot of the Startline, it doesn’t show the size of the screen too well but it is huge, easily visible from the other end of the track.
When they first got the screen, they didn’t have the brightness turned down. It would throw some serious colors into photos!

I love the Australian cars. Different than ours and they look sooooo cool with those big blowers sticking outta the hood. I have watched a lot of videos from Australia. BTW, I do have 2 Mad Max movies, the first one (1980 - Mel Gibson looks 18) and Thunderdome with Tina Turner,
