NHRA survey.....

for me it isn't about the "1000 feet", it is about races that are over almost before they start...

if you just like the sound and feel of the cars going by and really low numbers on the "scoreboard", I guess it doesn't matter, but I have always been a fan of action on the track. IMO when you cut of 25% of the racing distance you lose a significant portion of the racing, especially if it is the last 25% of the action. It is like ending a football game at the end of the 3rd quarter or a baseball game after the 7th inning, you know, just as it is getting interesting...

If you don't mind the 1000' racing then more power to you, but it really has had an negative impact on my enjoyment of NHRA racing...

Why would anyone respond to anything that NHRA puts out? The next time they listen to anyone will be the first time. It is nothing more than fluff. If you buy into this I would like to talk to you about some land past the shutdown in Gainesville.

It blows my mind how people boycott the big show because fuel cars are shutting off at 1000ft. I'm all for re-packaging the fuel classes into a bit slower, much less expensive deal that can run 1320. However, should that never happen, how can any gearhead not want to see fuel cars run side by side, at 320+mph to 1000ft? I stood at the 1000ft. mark at Reading and it was incredible. These cars move past the 1320, even clicking it at 1000ft., so fast that's it's scary. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I just think people are missing out by boycotting because of this, not to mention all the other classes that put on a tremendous show. Just my .02

1000 feet is better than 0 feet.

I feel CHEATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got Mine and I haven't been a member since 2008.

Filled it out and left a few messages in the other check boxes.

Lots of things I think need to be fixed with No Hot Rods Allowed drag racing I could go on all day.

Long live March Meet, California Hot Rod Reunion, Street Car Super Nationals and Local Drag Strips!

Like I posted before, 1000ft racing is not a deal breaker for me. There is just too much cool stuff going on in the sport to enjoy for me to stay away. Should we go back to 1000ft racing, then everyone needs to be ready for even more changes. You can't just take cars that are hitting 320-330 at the 1000 mark and give them an additional 320 feet. And we certainly don't need 340-350 mph cars (though it would be cool :D ). My hope would be a combo that is somewhere between the current big show and the Nostalgia cars. I know the current owners and tuners will fight this. My logical side says with the parts we have today, we should be able to have a 1/4 mile car run high 4's at over 300 with way more reliability (for a fuel car) than the current set-ups. But, there's the great debate...

racing to 1000' & 1320' at varied tracks is appealing but I do not think it would work.
oval racing isn't timed laps so varied tracks and distances are ok, the casual fan only has to know who is in the lead.
drag racing is all about e.t. and mph.; hardcore fans could interpret varied et's and mph's, but IMO the casual fan
needs ONE length to establish a baseline to gauge performance from event to event, track to track.

what would sponsors like more? 1/4 mile racing @ reduced performance? or 1/4 mile racing chasing records?
or what would insurance companies like more? or what would team owners like more?

what about the shorter tracks? time to go? or lengthen track which some obviously can not do.

ford is gone after 2014 - maybe revamp a slower but MUCH better looking aero package(body) for FC? mopar's been running the same deal for a few years now - what's a mold charge? chevy & toyota hopefully will play too? ford will regret.
I think fans would react positively to 'new' FC bodies.... (IMO PM bodies steal the show rite now)

Good points Mike. FC DEFINITELY needs some new bodies. I read elsewhere that there may be a new Chevy Camaro FC body for next year, an alky version for starters.

I was able to take the survey, and had to fill the blanks on a few questions.
Interesting that they had questions about ESPN. Wonder what prompted them to ask those questions? Complaints on Facebook? Or are the folks in Glendora reading this site:D

Received mine this afternoon. To the naysayers, at least they are asking the questions in a format which should be easily understood and analyzed. I also liked the the question (s) about ESPN's program. The program is GOOD, the programming SUCKS (inconsistent & delay's for everything). Anyway, a step forward IMO.:)

At least by one...it was pretty much the straw that broke the camel's back for me :(

I didnt get one but am a member so maybe not sending it to us out of towners? I would really like to participate and tick the yes box to the will I be attending any events next season. I hope it is as it sounds and they are considering a return to 1320! I have never seen a NHRA race over the full distance in person.

Kylee hasn't seen the survey either, yet both of you have attended multiple races this year and are members :/

As for 1000/1320 - I've seen both distances in person a lot, and personally mate what you've seen at a 1000ft is just as good, if not better. Others will probably tell you differently. I've seen several 4.40 passes with a best at a 4.42 and speeds over 336. The 3.70 and 330 plus runs I've seen were equally as good imo and the racing is much tighter. Also, if they were to go back to 1320 you won't be seeing them haul the mail like they do now.

Hopefully see you in Sydney in a couple of weeks mate.

Mike

*Edit - the survey has come through. Check your email.
