so every year we watch Jim Dunn attract multiple new sponsors......off the top of my head he's had mooneyes, penthouse, canidae,
grimeboss, tap it, USD, snickers, k&n filters, rislone, lucas oil, and now alo. (i only looked up 2 of these sponsors, the rest i remembered)
and i will try alo.........sponsors do not need to get into the winner's circle to be a successful campaign.
can't remember where i saw a TV interview with founder of Alo; the last thing i thought this guy would do is sponsor a funny car, but here
he is......it would be very interesting to hear the story behind his involvement with Jim Dunn and what he perceives are the benefits
of sponsoring a funny car in the nhra......and at what dollar level is he involved at (i know we'll never get that info).

Got to love Big Jim. That last part I am sure is his key for getting sponsors. Where the rest of the teams are probably asking between 4-5 million a year to be main sponsor, Fireman probably quotes them half that. You know they jump on that once they see he's a good story with his history, his demeanor, and the fact that he always seems to qualify, and runs quick enough to sneak in a few round wins....it's probably a rather quick "yes" if they've been thinking about sponsoring a motorsport.

use 2 buy about $100K a year of lucas for my trucks but not now, div 2 got screwed on alky racing and also talked to lucas on buyin more product for marketing help but fell on deaf ears so my business didn't mean much

I doubt very seriously that anyone, regardless of the class is turnin' down 2mil but whoever is landing the sponsors for that team is a superstar. for the last 20 years that teams on track success has been nil, yet they always seem to have a name on the side of the car and yet a legendary owner /tuner, still at his peak and a standing female pro stock champ is coming up empty tryin' to secure backing.

andy I wuld think lucas has some say so on race locations as much money as he puts in, but he also didn't value $100K in business I had given the company
wen u r loded $100K may not b much

Apply it to F/SA and it sounds even more ridiculous

In the past year I've bought: Comp Cams, Earl's, Goodyear, Harland Sharp, Holley, Jegs, Milodon, Mopar, Quick Fuel, Simpson, Summit, VP, Weld, XRP. Plus use AAA, and shop at NAPA or O'Reilly... Yeah, that reads like the contingency sponsor list which I admit is because they were mostly for the race car. But for both automotive and non-automotive products I will choose the one that supports motorsports.

Here's an example.
While leaving Wild Horse on Friday. Melo Yellow was handing out cans. So my daughter and grandsons each took one. Ever since then that's all they buy.

Hahaha... We grabbed those too and now my grandson is hooked :D

This is the very type of thing that throws up red flage for potential sponsors. Why would they want to get involved when they read this kind of stuff.

The Dunn's do a great job of getting new sponsors. But I don't think they're getting anywhere near $2mil deals. Jim also knows how to run on a budget, as well as "hire" arrive & drive drivers.

I don't know how much (or if) GEICO is still involved, but my family is certainly done with them. Against my advice, my daughter changed from State Farm (who I have been with for 52 years) to GEICO because of price. She was struck from behind recently and I had to get my attorney involved to force GEICO to get off their butts to get medical coverage and start repairing her car. 15 % my ass!
