NHRA Adjusts Rev Limiters

Bracket Racing on Nitro... Just set a break out number and be honest with the fans you are chasing away... If I wanted to watch nascar, I'd watch nascar.

So, again the issue of "It's all too fast". Can't slow down the nitro cars because then there will be no difference between them and the alky cars. Can't slow down the alky cars because then there won't be any difference between them and the Super-class/ Comp cars. Can't slow down...

Can't go faster because the tracks are too short. Can't go faster because some teams can't. Can't go faster because what happens if someone else dies. Can't go faster...

Can't make a rule that brings parity to the class because it's unfair to the innovators. Can't make a rule to change things because some can't afford to change. Can't make a rule because the rulemakers don't actually race and don't understand race cars. Can't make a rule...

Is this modern day drag racing's problem in a nutshell? Discuss....

So what they are saying is restict the rpm enging slows the car down, well making the cars heavier didn't slow them, shortening the track didn't either.
Restrict engine rpm ?, just have the clutch come in sooner and pull timing back sooner, with less retard. things should just about stay the same .

The Agent is now saying another letter was sent out clarifying that they will only be testing these ideas, no changes for 2014.

20 PERCENT BLOWER OVERDRIVE. Then you can put the rev limiters back in the trailer. Blower pulleys are cheaper anyway. And Bennett, if you're reading this, do you have any updates on when your site will be back in operation?

The real limit on nitro racing will be when the cars get quick enough to surpase the reaction time of the driver. How much can you do in 3 seconds? It will get to a point where you blink and realise you missed it

OK, so how do we know what story to believe?? Less rpm for 2014, or no change??

I was watching some of the testing this morning on BS, Force went 4.03, and His kid went 4.08 both close to 319.

The fact is fuel cars have been too fast for the tracks for over 50 years, otherwise they wouldn't need the chute to slow them down enough to use the brakes to stop in the first place.

The problem is not that the cars are too fast, its that the NHRA's tracks are too short, the real money needs to be spent by NHRA to lengthen the tracks they can and build new tracks were they can have the needed run off area.

What a concept...I like it!

Exactly. Like land is free and the sport is overflowing with paying customers....Not to mention that Pomona, E-Town and Maple Grove would all ass-out because it is what it is and there aint no more...
Nobody said it would be free, or cheep, some venues would have to go, that is the point isn't it........................ everyone involved needs to quit they'er bitching and just get on with the races or take up lawn bowling, or bird watching.
