I think the 2013 changes are needed. Won't repeat appropriate comments made by others in this thread. Comments made to me at Indy by one of the PSB crew chiefs:
1. Move everyone to 2 valve is best rather than allow everyone 4 valve. Moving to 4 valve would be too costly for the rest of the field.
2. While Harleys do have an advantage, it may not be as big an advantage over the Hectors as everyone thinks. There have been several races this year where the Hectors performance was equal to the Harleys and then on race day one or both of the Hectors had a red light, late light or equipment problems. By now the Hectors should have won several races.
3. Hectors have figured out something on the Buells that the other have not. Thus, their performance is consistently better than the other Buells.

Given where we are, I think NHRA made the right decision for 2013 to even the playing field.

By the way, my preferred classes are PSB and PS. I like the fuel cars as well but prefer the others because they are the best combination of driver AND tuner.

You must realize that we are the above average drag racing fans which puts us in the minority. Most in the stands don't understand the pro stock bike rules or even care. Maybe they think all the bikes are Harleys, I have heard someone in the stands with no clue try to explain to his friends many times about certain classes and they are dead wrong. Makes me want to get up and leave or scream. They don't even care about pro stock cars, sportsmans, etc.
This rule change had to come because of sponsors complaints, since NHRA don't listens to fans or racers.

It's not a matter of what team works harder.

WHen the Harley's first came back they couldn't get anything right and were not where near qualifying let alone comepeting.

Rules were adjusted(overly so) and then they took over. When one group is allowed to run something that no one else is allowed to, that isn't right. It's not a matter of designing a better go fast part before anyone else and letting them figure it out.
Here they can parade their go fast part for all to see because nobody else is allowed to use it.

Before the end of the season I would like to see the Harley's actually go all out. Don't hold back, give the old engine one last glory run, hit the first 200mph pass and show us what we all have suspected anyway.

I look forward to next year's bike class now as my interest has dwindled in recent years.

When, you say most in the stands you must be talking about the 2 or 3 hundred left cause the rest of the fans don't want to watch PSM and the fans at home fast forweard past them along with the Pro Stock cars. If you had a race that featured only PSM and Pro Stock cars you couldn't get a crowd large enough to attract flys.

Most don't know anything about nitro classes either when the stands are full. Ever listen to someone explain that dragster smoked the tires because he was to late on the tree.
Also I am one of the 2 or 3 hundred left to watch the PSM and PSC and one of the 10 or 20 watching the sportsmans classes. But not one of the thousands watching the nitro cars. I also loves going to divisionals. That's what I like so oh well.

If anyone has ever downloaded the schedule from NHRA.com I think you'll find that NHRA doesn't care about PS, PSM, or ProMod either. Big-ass red letters at the bottom NITRO AT 2:00 & 4:00. Buried up in the rest of the schedule is PS, PSM, and Pro Mod. The last I heard, they are part of the pro classes as well.

You gotta play the hand your dealt!!! So it's not fair: BFD Life isn't fair!!!
@ least The Hectors are working at it instead of sitting back crying!!!

Again, it's obvious you either don't know or are blind to what's really going on in Pro Stock Motorcycle this year. Walk through the bike pits and ask anyone other than a V & H Harley rider what they think and you'll get an earful. Better yet just go talk to George Bryce about how he's been stonewalled when attempting to buy a V-rod motor so he can have the same equipment as the Harley team.

I would kind of feel that Eddie and Andrew are breathing a sigh of relief over this. They are both good guys, and have had to endure a couple of years of the "unfair advantage" thing. That has to take some of the high from winning.

Next year they can come out with their own pushrod 2 valve motors and all the back biting will be gone. When Eddie wins one then, he will have the satisfaction of knowing he did it on a level playing field.

Apparently the 10 pounds didn't affect the V&H bike.
Qual RD1 they are 1&2 .02 ahead of #3

Wouldn't surprise me at all if they suddenly out of no where lay down some stupid quick numbers at Pomona during the finals and set the ET and MPH records so high nobody can touch them.

1) I don't care whose side you're on (HD/Others) but an organization should never, ever change the rules during the playoffs!!! During the off-season or for the next season is great but the 10lb addition after the 1st crapdown race is bull****!!!

The predictions of the V & H team being relegated to the ranks of the also-rans by the addition of 10 lbs might have been a bit premature......;)

The Hector's have 2 hun on the quickest HD after the 2nd round. Still too early to tell the impact. If it is anything like Houston, the Hector's will have the quicker bikes in qualifying and during eliminations only to break or red light it away.

I know George Bryce has been burning a lot of time on the dyno.

Hector Sr. still has a 2 hun advantage on the quickest HD bike..... The rest of the field is still out to lunch compared to the top 4.
