This would be a great place to run the Boss 429 style block with pan rails and relocated mag position. Lots of Billet parts available today that weren't available 25 - 30 years ago! use a 4.900 bore spacing, 11.200 height block with squish chamber high swirl cylinder heads and 7:1 comp ratio. It would flat out fly with single plug, single pump and 4 disc clutch.
Chuck, what about the Ford engine in Pat Austin owned Ford Mustang nostalgia F/C? Seem to remember the Austins designed it years ago, & NHRA didn't approve it. This same engine ran in the A/FD car they ran & now the funny car. I think it's based on the 429 Ford Shotgun motor.
