Mater Server in Tornado Country?

The server itself was never down. What crashed was.....the MYSQL Database which this site runs on. I am still working on why it happened. So there you have it. lol

I personally saw the server on a flight to Maui wearing a flowered shirt. Seems it believed it earned some down time or it was headed home to spend some time with his mother board.

By tornado country do you mean Fenton Mi? We got blasted Friday by a nasty twister. I tried to get on the Mater all day from my Blackberry (power out Friday and Saturday) but got the same message.

I was a few miles south, at Milan, sweating out the line of thunderstorms. My sister lives in Brighton and her kids live in that same general area, so the news from Fenton kept me worried for a couple days.

I hope you came through it okay - Fenton suffered major damage and it was a miracle there were no serious injuries.

Thanks. Yes everything is ok. The tornado hit about a 1/2mile south of me. I was coming home from work. I dropped my daughters off at their mom's ( just outside of town) to stay in the basement. That turned out to be a blessing. The tornado was hitting Fenton as I was driving into it. I couldn't see through the rain so I didn't realize it. Everything on the news stated it was further north than what it was. The few extra minutes to drop off the girls kept me from the heart of the storm. You're right there is a lot of damage. It's really sad to see.

Sorry to hear about the damage Dave, but I am really glad to hear all are ok... We here in husker land are not unfamiliar with the fury of the tornado, but the damage they can cause still amazes me. You take care and hope all are all right. I hate to say it, but I'll have to take an ice storm over a tornado any day!

Thanks Terry. I only lost power for a little over a day or so. You had it much worse than I with your ice storm. I just feel bad for the people that took a direct hit. I can't even imagine having to go through something like that.

You're telling me Jay! I'm just thankful again I decided to drop off my daughters for THEIR sake. Regardless my concern is the people that are ACTUALLY dealing with it now and have to rebuild or repair.

Living in tornado prone areas is still better than watching a Hurricane for a week aimed at your general direction and the probability of a strike increasing sometimes by the hour.
I'll take the occasional Tornado.

Of course today is the second anniversary of Katrina hitting the coast and having just returned from New Orleans I hope the US escapes serious storms yet another year.
My former home Corpus Christi is about 26 years overdue for a big direct hit and I'm glad I don't have a horse in that race anymore.
