Nope....they simply "slingshot" past it. Forget 1320 but remember it always. So they changed the rev limiters ehh? I still say run em to the quarter mile!
TF and FCs have both been flirting with 340 for years, I don't think an official 340 MPH run will get anybody panicking. Sure would be badass to see on the scoreboards! Is this your way of saying NHRA and Goodyear are now OK with 340?
Would you care to explain “Slingshot past it” for us laymen please? Btw I believe Mike Salinas has run it to or very near the quarter mile quite a few times. He’s probably been over 345mph or faster and lived/stopped in time to tell the tale. It can be done. The NHRA may just need to shop around for a new insurance company…Nope....they simply "slingshot" past it. Forget 1320 but remember it always.
Winner winner chicken dinner! Smart money is on Grubby...but my bet is Flynn gets it done firstSo they changed the rev limiters ehh? I still say run em to the quarter mile!
Example: You can personalize the MyKey in a late model Ford F150 to limit speed to 80mph, when a limiter kicks in (fuel cutoff; a nitro car uses a rapid timing retard). Same result. But if you punch the throttle wide open beforehand, as the truck approaches the limit it'll momentarily zing right past 80 to 83-85mph - 'slingshot', if you will - before it settles back down to 80. A simplistic comparison but that's what happens.Would you care to explain “Slingshot past it” for us laymen please? Lots of quarter milers still out there but I can promise you they're not going to raise the timing-retard RPM just so some team can run 340. Somebody is gonna have to just blast their way past the retard. It's doable....339.87 is in the books (Hight, Sonoma, 2017) and there's been a number of 338s after they stood the FC headers back up.Winner winner chicken dinner! So would a little earlier 1-1 lockup from the cars now running in the high 330s. The track should hold so let's see who's King of the Clutch.A tail wind from the south would help.
