Legends at Indy (1 Viewer)

I was a bit surprised that Connie Kalitta wasn’t there signing autographs. He’s definitely a legend. Wonder why?

How hot is it. Connie doesn't seem to go many hot weather races.

I think a combination of age and health.
Mid west heat and humidity.

my mistake...not Leal....Herb McCandless won Indy in '69 making him one of the few left from the early days, WJ and KJ are recent past winners

Not to nitpick but, Herb won in 1970, and he was here calling he HEMI Shootout as he has the last several years.

Connie is still active, so he is working, as a rule the "Legends" are retired.

So, Connie will never be a legend, because I do not see that man retiring. LOL

not to nitpick, but NHRA's list was a little confusing, I thought the dashes were separating the entries;)

Linda Vaughn was in the tower with Alan at the start of PS Q5 and he politely asked her what was the first year she came to the Us Nationals. She replied 1966 and I'm 75 and still alive, and shifting gears. She also mentioned she would have liked to have owned a Pro Stock team.

It was an honor and privilege to finally meet Don Garlits. I've been a huge fan of him since I first started following the sport in the mid '60s. He couldn't have been any nicer to this longtime fan.

I also had the honor and privilege of meeting Darrell Gwynn. Once again, he couldn't have been any nicer and friendlier

to a long time fan of his.
