Is he really OK? Read John Medlin's ariticle on Competition Plus regarding concussions. It makes a lot of sense that NHRA should have a Concussion Protocol and John's crash is a example of why. John is going to race tomorrow because he has sponsors to satisfy regardless of how he really feels. Is having a Concussion Protocol as described by John Medlin going to be another one of those things NHRA ignores until a major injury or God forbid someone gets killed because of their ignorance.

Terry, you hit the nail on the head. Force sounded OK in the interview, except his shoulder. You gotta hope he is OK otherwise. This crash reminded me of an incident Johnny West had some years ago. He got knocked out & the car kept going all the way down the track. He got a broken arm out of it.

I was there for West's crash and the big difference was John's team invented the extra cockpit padding after Eric Medlin died

It looks like when he hit the wall, the header flames went up like at full throttle. When he hit the wall, the body probable shifted, pushing on the throttle, causing the engine to over rev, and kicking some rods out causing the fire.

looked like he (or the chassis twisting) opened the throttle a few times after impact as well. What triggers the automatic chutes and why didn't they deploy earlier?
