Is there a potential new class that could last?

I like watching them not just because they're different but because regardless of the fuel used they're still considered high performance machinery. I personally enjoy everything from the lowest-class stocker to Top Fuel. But I wouldn't call myself a 'diesel guy'. I do get your point and it makes sense.

I'm sure the idea has been run past the NHRA before and they decided the same thing you pointed out. Not enough interest to make it an actual class.
Sounds like they better stay out of that dome that Bob "told us" all about, LOL.

So let me throw two more out and see if they stick - a natural gas class and a hydrogen class.

I'm pretty sure I've seen what I think were natural gas Pro Stock cars back in the mid/late-90s, but can't recall any since then.

A/fuel Dragster as a class by itself, but less rules.
Unrestricted nitro % (to start) get rid of the pounds per cubic inch, and run all the management you want.
how about a form of this, and let them enter TF? maybe same w/FC? seems to me boggs nitro injected FC
might make a big show or two or more.

The problem I see with the diesel guys is the safety equipment. The trucks I see going really fast are on 4x4 chassis with insane drivetrains, the local farm kid and Dad building it. Most are going to weigh in the 8000 lb range, imagine NHRA specs to run 8.90 in an 8k vehicle ?? They run at smaller tracks in Ohio, safety equipment is a helmet.

Not even in the same zip code.
i know, but sometimes there are spots open, or some of the independents just can't get down the track.
in a short field scnario, there would be no byes, and the slower car would keep the higher qualified car honest.

Isn't there a few cars running coal?
I think I've seen it in Promod.

IHRA allowed A/F with nitrous to run T/F, some years ago. I don't think any of the A/F actually ran nitrous. A/F didn't last long in T/F. Wondering if a 1000 CI injected nitro motor w nitrous could give the blower cars a fight.

I wonder if anyone ever drag raced big rigs, like Kenworth/Peterbuilt/Volvo? They'd be diesel for sure.

Motz has his jet rig for exhibition.

I remember in the 70's them running at E Town during the week. I was nigh eve and thought they were stock trucks then my neighbor who was a truck driver educated me as to how modified they actually were.

Thanks! Hot-Rod Semi and Big Rig Bracket...love it!

Looks like the 4 events are all west of the Mississippi....wonder if they've ever ran here in the east? Honestly don't think I've heard of them before, outside of recent posts here. Would definitely be worth going at least once to see it.

Good Morning everyone. I have been a longtime reader of the site and really appreciate the decorum and news in here. Thank you.

Y'all finally swerved into my wheelhouse so I wanted to throw in our series. www.outlawdieselss.com. We are really conscientious of the perception we have in the world. We know we are looked down on. Some of that was earned. We really are trying to clean up our act (pun intended) especially at the forefront of the industry. The fastest guys will emit a puff of smoke on spool-up, but after that it is clean and mean. Everyone works together. Shares data, knowledge, parts, whatever it takes because we know we are the outsiders.

2 big events coming. Rudy's Truck Jam at Rockingham Arp 24-25. And the 10th Ultimate Callout Challenge/Outlaw Diesel Revenge featuring a box 72mm charger class paying a guaranteed $50,000 to win (and has been sponsored up much higher) June 5-7 at Indy. I'll be announcing both places. I would love for you to come and visit and please say hello.

back in 05' we took our A/Fuel car to the Rock for a race we were allowed to try and qualify for Top/Fuel running 100% with a 2:50 gear. we made a half pass with a good 60 foot and then blew it up on the first full pass with no spare motor. business took precedence over racing, and it sat. still think about the possibilities. thinking the MPH would have been amazing and could have run in 4's easily with testing.
rules should be 100%, build the car as light as safety will allow and have at it. would be a great class fans would love as nothing sounds better than an injected hemi on 100% rocking back and forth on the starting line
