That's flyin'. Love the colors on your car, Randy. We ran mid 5.50s in 2004 with Marc White at the wheel.
Doesn't sound fair to me either, Mike, but one or the other will likely have to adjust. Sounds like NHRA went after the AFCs. Maybe that's the best solution although looking at it through the eyes of someone who's never campaigned one of these cars I still like my idea better if for no other reason than it steps up the performance. Personal preference, of course. I'll watch 'em either way; I love both TAFC and TAD.Throw away tour tune up then spend more to find a new one
Larry, I really miss the dry hops and the looks given to each other during that time, great for the fans, now they put them on the starting line like a slot car, I know that’s how it’s done now for various mechanical consistency needs, just not as much fun to watch for me, where’s my Time Machine, those were the daysCongratulations NHRA you have now just taken away AGAIN from some great crew chiefs to be true genius's in making a class better for the spectator in my opinion. They have now dropped the Injected cars to 91.5% Nitro, welcome to bracket racing 101. There is no longer the type of crew chief's like Armstrong, Coil. ETC ETC. who used their brains and came up with many great ideas. everything is now all spec in top fuel FC AND TF. it Is now also bracket racing in my opinion. just turn valves. times have changed from my days in racing, Sad

Not sure what the answer is. Comments I've read seem to indicate that speeding up the alky cars will just add more costs to an already costly combo. Playing with nitro % seems to be the path of least resistance, it worked for the dragsters. Yes there are more A/FDs than blown alky cars, but the past few years I've noticed an increase in blower cars. And, on average, they run pretty close in performance. If the alky FCs have to spend more to speed up, then we'll definitely be defeating the purpose of having the A/F option added. Time will tell.Congratulations NHRA you have now just taken away AGAIN from some great crew chiefs to be true genius's in making a class better for the spectator in my opinion. Here is your Time Machine. Thank you, thank you very muchHere is your Time Machine. Dry hops and that guy in the black cowboy hat.
Very good point, RandyI'm reading comments about how some think speeding up the alky cars will increase the cost to run them. I ran 125% over back when it was legal up to 2000, and continued to run after 2001, the first year they slowed the overdrive down. Reducing boost actually increased the cost because you had to rev the crap out of them to make any power. Rods, valve train, crank life took a hit. I don't believe increasing overdrive will significantly increase the cost to run. Combos for higher boost are already available. Speaking from experience.
What I want to hear is a former or current TAFC competitor tell me exactly what expenses are involved in changing the blower OD, say, from 92% over (screw) to 120% over. Are we talking the cost of some new pulleys and belts, recalibrating the fuel system and clutch settings, or some sort of massive undertaking? Not sure what the answer is. Yeah because that'll be EASY to achieve parity... Pro Comp was awesome for the first few years, but remember what killed it.I do believe it's time to resurrect Pro Comp... 16 car fields and EVERYONE tries to make the show in the Q rounds.
It was all of us pesky turbo cars....Yeah because that'll be EASY to achieve parity... Pro Comp was awesome for the first few years, but remember what killed it.
Ha! I was pretty young but there were many Pro Comp cars that are burned into my memory, yours was one of them!It was all of us pesky turbo cars....
