I would of loved to see Johnny punch Cruz

Agreed. Come to think of it, I can't thing of anyone participating in this sport, from the weekend bracket racer to DSR, who is ruining the sport.

It's all those mega-team owners who, through their own blood, sweat & tears, have been very successful and created teams that inspire every young driver who enters the sport. Guys & gals who started from nothing with a dream and achieved it beyond their wildest imagination.

Yeah, I hate when that happens!

What happened?

About a third of the way down....
In Memoriam - Pat Foster

But... in this same google search I also found that the Pedregons only commissioned him to build a chassis, not a whole car. I found this quote (not attributed except from "dragstalgia"

Yes, this car is the one that we commissioned Pat Foster to build. As you mentioned, the problems associated with this build, was very much like the problems that the Pedregon's had with Pat. Although Pat Foster was a great craftsman, his bookkeeping needed help. Pat was paid in full over $48,000 just to build A CHASSIS. No motor driveline, fuel lines or front wheels and tires. So when you say his "unrewarded efforts$", that would hardly be the case.

I found lots of stuff by googling pedregon + pat foster

There's been so much talk in recent years about people wishing for drivers that weren't public relations machines. Wishing for drivers that didn't always rattle off a litany of sponsor names anytime they get within a 5 foot radius of a microphone. Here you've got two guys, both champions, that will give you an honest opinion, pull no punches. However, they're the whiners. Whit Bazemore used to get this same garbage for years. Personally, I'll take Cruz, Tony and Whit over a lot the sponsor speakers any day. Your mileage may vary.

^^^^ This ^^^^^ And I don't even like Cruz

two shot-trolley focus pull on Mary and Stuart
There's an obvious tension in the room.

Mary: "Stu, I mean it this time, Thad isn't yours."

Stuart: "I believe you this time Mary."

Mary: "Stu, I mean, he's Raif's."

tight shot of tear falling from Stuart's eye

Stuart: "Oh.......crap........"

Mary: "I said, I mean it this time."

Right?

I'm sure a sport where ingenuity, growth, expansion and success are frowned upon, will attract tons of sponsors in the future!

Sheesh...

Everyone is entitled to their opinion..
As far as sponsorship dollars, I do seem to remember Fortune 500 sponsorship dollars in the sport back when it was primarily a single team sport. Now, we praise the presence of remote control cars, dog food..

I wonder why most of those household name sponsors no longer see the NHRA as a viable communications vehicle to interact with their customers?

IMO, it's not because of enterprising businessmen who evolve the sport into what it is today, but because it's a turn off to witness it evolve into a team dominated blocker sport which the outcome has now become moot depending on the team ladder, and a team sport which buys the sandbox and tells the rest of the neighborhood kids to go home because they can no longer afford admission.. It's un-sellable and nausiating nepotism blocking this generation's potential (sellable) version of independents like Al Hoffmann, Eddie Hill, Dick LaHaie, Tim Grose, Joe Amato or Kenny Bernstein.
Again, wonder why we are dying a slow death folks? Helloooo?

I concede that it is just inevitable business evolution of this motor sport, and I do not personally blame either DSR, JFR or any other controlling interest. If in their shoes, I would do the same for my interests.

george has a great response,, big money rules in all avenues of life,, not just NHRA,, but the so called pros have become so boring,,,ther culd be some resonable limits on multi-car teams, and the suits culd push for the other teams to get some marketing money cause they do have influence on who gets the deals,, then there culd b much more of a variety of ass kissing:D
instead of just the top 3:eek:
