Hood scoops are back in Pro Stock! (5 Viewers)

We heard the same conspiracy theories about Toyota in nitro because of sponsor dollars they were bringing in. If Mopar and Ford wanted they could run a competitive pro stocker. The truth is neither brand wants to.
There’s no conspiracy theory, but there is a history of NHRA hitting mainly the Mopars. All you have to do is review the facts of NHRA effectively legislating the Hemi out of competition, and Ford has also seen its share of being kneecapped by NHRA.

Amazing, getting excited over hood scoops...................have we fell that far.??
And here we are at 64 posts!

And to sum up the 63 wonderful posts prior to this one, you can blame who ever you want but the bottom line is, the NHRA was asleep at the wheel and ruined what used to be a great Pro category. And one I know longer want to watch.

Nitro exhibitions (go full-on circus) and ball all the other categories into 3-4 eliminators.

Pro Comp:
- TAD and A/Fuel
- Alky and nitro injected FC
- AA/FA and ProMod

Comp:
Don't change a thing, but add in any class that runs between 5.99 to 7.00, INCLUDING Pro Stock and T/D & T/S

Modified:
- Great place to drop the Factory Stock cars, the AFX cars as well as F.I. door cars, cars with carbs, and anyone that believes they have the muscle to keep up.

Class Eliminator:
- Got Doors? Run the A category
- Long and skinny? Run the B category
- Two wheels? Run the C category
- Put all these together on Sunday for a 32 car field and send em based on the shoe polish on the window...

So eliminating the hood scoop ruined the pro stock category a very close competitive segment I only watch it now because of the personalities involved okay!!!

Yesterday, at Pomona, my very mechanically savvy wife and I stood in front EE's car and I told her NHRA was going to scoops next year and dual throttle body FI to add parity to the class and save the little guys money. She said "changing the bodywork, trashing the snorkle, single throttle body, intake manifold, and EFI programming and book, and buying a new manifold, two throttle bodies, new EFI tune-up is going to save the little guy money, oookkkaaayyyyy?"

I think I can hear, off in the distance, KB's burnout car running the new setup today.

caught an interview with Erica by her sister Courtney and perhaps with the recent history of progress and results, weighing on her, she was less than Enthusiastic to say the least

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$+$$$$$$$

Freeman said this week 17 out of 19 "parties?" voted for the change. Not sure what that means since he and Anderson control the existence of the class. But its not like they do not continue to spend $ on the current setups, so how can money be that much of a factor, as long as ya got it.

It was reported that they should be able to at least start out with their old tunnel ram intakes with duel throttle bodies. I think that is the thinking.

If I heard Freeman correctly he said all they had to do is change the top plate on the manifold from a front inlet to 2 throttle bodies on a new plate on top of the manifold.

you'd think with the old style carb manifold the air would flow very similarly with a throttle body vs carbs. They are always experimenting with manifolds anyway.

I don't think the conversion back to scoops and an extra throttle body is going to be that big of a deal cost wise.
