Hi all,

Please excuse the somewhat self serving nature of this post...but I felt it was the least I could do for gentleman that has worked for the past month and a half on a story about yours truly for an on line magazine.

It is finally done and here is the link.

speedstylemagazine.com - Dave McClelland, The Voice of the NHRA

He really did a great job and if it interests you, please take a look. It's a pretty good chronicle.

Thanks again and I hope no one is offended.

Stay well and stay warm.

Wow Dave, thanks for that link! What a career you've had, I sure hope we haven't heard the last of you. Joe!

Big Mac- no apology is necessary. Thank you for the tip and the link.

What a great read. I love all the photos that go with the story line. My favorite is of course the Fiat.

I still remember it like yesterday when Lloyd Mosher (Little Giant Killer) and I went out to San Bernardino (the old Air Force Base) and tested his new Speedster/gasser. There you were making a few laps with the Fiat. I love that car!!!!

Thanks for your contribution to the sport we love.

Ps – see you at the Pomona RFC chapel service on Sunday!:)

Thanks for the link Mac. I, along with many others, sincerely appreciate the contribution you have made to this sport. There are many great announcers out there, but none in my humble opinion, can compare to the Big Mac/Steve Evans combo. :D

Great article about one of the good guys of the sport. His announcing skills are unquestioned, but it's his qualiities as a person that make him stand out from the crowd.

Great article Dave. I really feel that those of us that heard you at the track or saw you on TV have been a witness to the greatest drag racing announcer of all time. It was nice to see the story behind the man. While reading it, the part about CMS in Warrensburg stuck out, my fraternity was founded at CMS and I actually visited once.

I've said it before and will keep saying it - Dave McLelland is to auto racing what Cosell and Madden are to the NFL.... undisputed, legendary, timeless, instantly-recognizable, treasured icons !

Thanks for the link, Mac. And please visit here often.

a great read. Not only the best racing racing announcer but easily among the great announcers in any sport all time

Well said.

Great article, proud to have heard and seen him at Southland Dragway those years ago. To me he is the voice of Drag Racing.

Mac, thanks for the link to a very interesting article. It's a great "read."

I think there are three things that have worked in your favor to set you apart from most other drag racing announcers:

1. You were in drag racing in one way or another, almost from its beginnings, saw the myriad devolpments unfold and paid attention; not many (if any) other announcers have enjoyed that advantage.

2. Your eloquent descriptions of trackside events and your innate understanding of what was going on (see above) made your explanations educational AND entertaining for the fans; you never "talked down" to, or over anyone's head, and that was something that was not easy to do, I'm sure, given the technical nature of drag racing (compared with other motorsports.)

3. The fact that you were and are a drag racer, with actual (and, successful) time in the cockpit and under the hood of your Tuna Tank Altered Coupe probably gave you insights that most other annnouncers didn't have.

It all adds up to a package that has proven unbeatable over the years... and WE are the beneficiaries of your expertise!

Thanks again for all you've done and all you do!!! Drag racing simply wouldn't be the same without your CONSIDERABLE contribution.

Bill

What a great story. What a career. What an outstanding person. I second all the above accolades. I have had the pleasure and honor to talk to Dave several times at the awards banquet NHRR, and in the pits of Beechbend and Indy.

Thank you, and GOD bless you sir.
(your biggest fan)

I am offended that i did not get the honor of writing this well deserved, well written and well overdue article:)
the honors and praise you are recieving you very much deserve. Sorry mac i am going to make you blush, but i think what makes you so GREAT and the ICON you are, is that you are 'one of us'. First and foremost you are a fan, always have been...always will be!
If you looked in the dictionary and looked up the word humble...you would see big mac staring right at you!

Great job to Bill Moore!

Great read, about an outstanding guy. Good to see you're enjoying your Corvette too.
