There's an echo in here!;)

Thanks for the link Dave, that's an awesome story. Hope you got your video and enjoyed it.

Lance,
This is OT but I Gotta tell ya, we put my son's Jr in the World of Wheels in the Superdome this past weekend. Part of our display had a TV on where we showed videos all weekend long. I rotated the videos and one of them I played of course was the Southland video. People would stop and watch that video and comment and all the cars they recognized, it was a lot fun talking about those old cars. And Dave your name came up a number of times during those conversations....all good comments of course...:)
...See pic below.....sorry for the thread derail......

no one more deserving.
thanks dave.
will always miss your voice, you are a true legacy of
nhra drag racing.

Carlisle Dragway!!!
I remember sneaking in there as a little kid and racing there as a bigger kid. Back when Pure Stock was pure and a kid could race and dream of the big time.
Congratulations to a man who has earned the right to be recognized and remembered for his role in motorsports.

To one and all,

That rosy glow you see on the western horizon is not a sunset...but the blushing I am experiencing from all the nice words in this thread.

I sincerely appreciate them all and am glad you enjoyed the story. Bill Moore did a great job as the longer we talked, the more he kept expanding the breadth of th tale.

I have been fortunate to have been an integral part of the sport...having been active in it for so many years. I consider myself truly blessed.

To Lance...my apologies for not getting back to you about the video. Yes, I received it and it brought back fond memories of a race track that went away far too soon.

Again to everyone...many thanks for you comments...hope to see all of you soon.

I, like millions of other fans have been in awe of Dave's talent for many years. But I have been even more blessed to be able sit down and share a meal with Dave a couple of times in the last couple of years. To talk with him for hours about racing, business, and life in general, was like sitting down with a long lost friend, a pleasure I will always cherish.

Al = my wife and I got to do the same with Dave and his Sweetheart at an RFC event once. Now I’ve interacted with Dave in a few things over the years, but to share a meal and conversation!! You are absolutely correct. What a Gentleman’s Gentleman! Blessings Dave!

i actually got my hands on some old NHRA Drag Racing from Englishtown 1995-1998 from Ted Pappacena of Drag Racing Imagery and it's great to hear the voice of Dave McClelland, it's more for me to study from along with the announcing of Bob Frey, Alan Reinhart Leo Taugher and Lewis Bloom currently and even back then (in the case of everyone except Leo and instead Bob Unkerfer), more to get better at announcing.

Thank you and god bless you Dave.
