Fontana to reopen in 2014

Finally!

Having a good track within a hour of home again is just the best news for a loooong time!

DG :D:D:D

Bring your mufflers...

I actually had already bought some before the "Last Drag Race" at Fontana, but ran without them to find out if we met the noise limit.

We did, so they have been hanging on the wall in the shop since. Looks like it might be time to drag them back out <g>!!

Warm up the torch. When the track does re-open sound issues will be on the front burner, too much on the line. No deep staging! ;)

Let it floor you Mark! The decision negotiated with San Bernardino County Courts is to build a $1.2 million dollar sound attenuation wall that may or may not reduce the sound/noise impact on the "community". The primary interest of the AAA of SoCal (who paid the $1.2 million) is to get the drag strip functioning with a steady Street Legal program while the sound is studied - after the wall is finished.Like it or not, this is a new world, once the courts get involved.

Wait Mark, it gets better! Instead of putting the wall north of the railroad tracks, thus reducing the noise from both the race track AND rail cars, they're putting it between the two! Brilliant. Wall will likely increase the sound from the RR traffic into the neighboring communities!
