Fontana to reopen in 2014

Wait Mark, it gets better! Instead of putting the wall north of the railroad tracks, thus reducing the noise from both the race track AND rail cars, they're putting it between the two! Brilliant. Wall will likely increase the sound from the RR traffic into the neighboring communities!
Auto Club Speedway does not own the property north of the railroad tracks, it would be tough and maybe illegal to build the wall on property belonging someone else. The court order is to attenuate sound from the dragstrip, as we all have seen in dealings with the Government - sometimes there are unintended consequences from over regulation.

As I said previously, "floors me."

I am going down today to get an auto insurance quote from the AutoClub. Again, thank you AutoClub for saving our track.

Guys, keep in mind that the wall has to be built on speedway property and not RR property so the wall will be built about 4 feet up the cement bank and yes it will be in between the drag strip and the RR tracks. If it keeps the track open who cares what it does on the other side of the fence.

Well good for them. I'm betting that the sound of the trains is more constant than the noise from the racetrack. What a surprise it'll be when someone gets all pissed off about the sound "from that racetrack", and drives down there, only to find a chugging train and an empty racetrack!

I believe that the "person" who was complaining has been bought out and is gone.

This whole deal makes no sense to me.
They should have just left everything on the south end of the property next to the ugly steel mill that still exists, in the first place!
It had an extra 1/4 mile of shut off also.
I guess it cut into the "prim & proper, silver jacket" crowd's VIP parking area, the $1.2 they will spend on the wall could have been spent to please them, years ago!

Bob wasn't all this really done so Wolfgang Puck could put in a cafe at the Nascar track.

Never the less I will be putting on a NITRO SHOW at Fontana in 2014. stay tuned kiddies, more will be revealed....................LF

I understand that Fontana acquired some of the top end stands from Pomona that NHRA has had covered up for the last few years. If true they must be planning on having a fair size crowd there. Pomona has been going downhill (which it does anyway) in attendance for quite a number of years.

I wouldn't be surprised if they took out the stands on the top end where the planes fly over so low. I have heard that they are not allowed to use them anyway. Even with the large crowd that was at the world finals there were still plenty of seats. That was a perfect size crowd...if there had been much more of an attendance then all of the lines would have been even longer then they were.

NO Nitro shows there for a while, if any. No alcohol and no zoomies for a while, according to VP of Operations Ray Wilkings as of last Friday December 6, 2013. NHRA Street Legals maybe by the end of February 2014.

A full report and photos in BangShift.com Tuesday morning.
