First, the throttle whacks are gone, and now...

I'm thinking fully functional show cars in the pits that do throttle whacks might be interesting for fans. Sorta like a cackle fest, but with today's TF cars. Who would sponsor such a thing though?

Sonds to me like if you want those things you should just go to a nostalgia event. It's mostly all there at those events. The big show just "ain't a show" anymore.

i would love to hear what a Good show is in your opinion? If your gonna bore us with another Back in the 70's story...nevermind!

Maybe so, but drag racing still has the most access for fans compared to any other motorsport or sports entertainment for that matter.

We try to be more accessible than other teams. We give trailer tours if time permits. We encourage our crew guys to be friendly to fans and answer whatever questions that are asked. T.J. just about signs everything. We still pit our car nose first, so the fans can get a better look at the car and the work being done and in the evening, we typically take the rope down and fans tend to come in for a better look at the car.

If you come by T.J.'s pit in Chicago they will have small stands set up along the side of the car so you can sit and watch them perform the service. They will be doing this at a specific time so you can plan to be there and not miss anything. They will also have a table set up with various parts on display. T.J. and I will be there talking through the procedure. Fans will be able to ask questions, or just heckle Tony while he's trying to work. This is Friday and Saturday for all four qualifying runs. They can't do it Sunday simply because if they are going rounds, there's no extra time.

Going to a great show tonight at Famosa. Saturday Nite Nitro, Everything nitro plus jets. The entire event is pulled off in one day, just like at Lions, Irwindale, etc. It is Chicago style, so there is no qualifying.

This sounds too cool. "NU" Nitro University

I didn't read all the posts but I can name a couple things.
1. As many night shows as possible. For one thing it's a lot cooler than having the sun beat down on you all day.
2. Side by side burnouts.
3. Let the crew members of Pro Stocks hold the cars in place while doing burnouts. It gives the spectators the feeling of untamed horses being held down before the race.
4. Mandatory minimum height on the wheelie bars. Nothing beats wheels up actions and seeing a car carrying the wheels for 100 feet.
5. Quit gouging the spectator's wallet for drinks. It's OK to make a couple bucks but paying $7 or $8 for a beer makes sure I don't buy one.
