along a similar vein as the other 'how much does he make' thread........
here's something i know nothing about and would like to know something
about.
i'm basing my questions on what i think i know about some professional
franchised sports such as MLB & NFL.
i think the labor laws in some sports are such that the atheletes obviously
stand to become quite wealthy, but the flipside is if they are released or
let go, they have no recourse to unemployment??
what i'd like to know is how are motorsports businesses setup?
do these businesses structure themselves in the same manner as you and i
mite? i.e. inc, llc or sole proprietor and are subject to unemployment compensation laws?
or are there special provisions for businesses in sports and/or entertainment
that negate them from unemployment laws?
i thought about this with whit's release; can he collect unemployment from
DPM? or to think even more extreme; what happens when a millionare
F1 driver is released?
It seems like motorsports teams (at least in nhra - non-franchise) function
almost as a private contractor, whereas isn't NASCAR a franchise?
other motorpsports sanctioning bodies?
