ESPN coverage back to old tricks

Do we really need to see so much JFR? It took a pit explosion to get some coverage for another team.

Hmph. I watched the ESPN3 webcast and none of that was on there. It was great!
Afterwards, I went out and had a great afternoon. I didn't watch the ESPN2 tv show.

They did get it right on Saturday where they showed the full Friday night round. Sure wish they could the night round at BIR!

I thought the coverage was pretty decent. Except for the introduction of a new driver Terry McMillican (a hybrid of Terry and Clay....lol).

That Pit explosion was weird! Never seen anything like that!!!

Surprised we don't see more of them... Not often is the car that tossed out the rods and filled up the diaper with an oil/nitro mix on its way to the next round with 75 minutes to get everything back into one piece... Regular maintinance of the can (with all its hot pieces coming out) and the draining of the pan of the volitile fluids usually is choreographed enough to keep the two separate, lessening the chances of an incident (but never completely ruling it out). But the turnaround clock was ticking, the bag was soaked, and the residual heat out of the clutch ignited the pad and any vapors (brakekleen as well?) and, well, you see the outcome.

You can't have enought ABC bottles around the pits/ garage IMO... (or anyplace that fire is a potential)

I missed most all of this weekend...Who did this happen to?

Not that I agree or disagree. But did we need another thread about this topic?!

Yes "we" do. Until espn gets it right

In my opinion this is the best change they made. Getting to watch 2nd session makes the show alot less dull than it was.

Man, that's no good!!!...everyone okay?

no one seemed to get hurt but I am sure they felt some big heat

So much Force exposure, it's almost so bad you can tell what their gonna do next with the team. Courtney Force and Robert Hight is not a marquee match up but of course that was all about the producers obsession for the team. It's getting to the point where every race with a name in it is hyped the hell up and that needs to be toned down. I'm watching drag racing, I am not tuned in to watch a build up of a single drag race. Only a run that decides a championship deserves that amount of bulid up.

Yesterday I watched for the first time in 6-7 months, and it flowed well minus some needed corrections. Tone the Force love down, he's forever the biggest name in fc, but we dont need to see, eat, and breathe Force. Paul needs to get better on some of his commentating. I should not know that Paul's favorite driver in the entire world is JR Todd. He should not be disclosing any favorites. He hopes JR lands a deal and gets back out full time he does not say that about TJ, Herbert, Will, Kalivoda, the list goes on and
on.

Mike calls it how it is. He's never expressing favorities, and when he does it's because his facts backed it up first. Paul is a commentator and a commentator should be excited about everyone, not just who they personally like or act like an underfunded team has absolutely no shot at winning a round. I don't care if # 1 qualified with a 3.75 and # 16 qualified with a 4.10, when they meet first round Paul needs to act like #16 actually has a shot instead of counting them out from the start. Like many comments he has made in the past about some teams.

Anyone else find it funny and odd that this race is called the SummerNationals when it's not even the summer yet. It's not the right marketing.

I find it funny and odd that ANY Summernationals aren't held in Old Bridge Township, Englishtown, New Jersey....

Thankfully John Force has been on the trailer after 1st round many, many times this year. And that is fantastic from my point of view. Maybe not ESPNs, but from mine.

That hasn't stopped them from having a camera and a mic surgically attached to him and his team as usual...

BUT- for the most part, JFR IS one of the more charasmatic, innovative, diverse and interesting racing operations in the world of sport. Why WOULDN'T you (ESPN) take advantage of that opportunity that just happens to be right on your doorstep week-in and week-out?
