Enders v. Anderson

her photo seems to truly rile up some folks....I said it before, it looks like she's shrugging her shoulders like "eh, what can you do"

she's not flipping the bird to his name on his trailer, or letting the tshirt wearing dog loose on the tire (as someone joked...ps...that was funny)

or mooning the team at a sponsor get together (as I joked)

for as many times as Greg said "I don't want to be that guy", her photo in response doesn't seem too far out of the boxing ring.

again, I'm curious.....there's a stack of sandbags with Harley's name on it, and it's taken more as a joke than it actually was (there's always truth in humor...that's what makes it funny)....this post is on it's 7th page, where as the sandbag post is on it's 2nd page.

They both screwed up.

Erica posing for a picture holding a Wally up behind a competitors trailer was asking for a pop in the face, at least that's the way it used to be.

But times have changed, with female drivers and lawyers behind every corner that stuff can't happen any more. Female drivers shouldn't take advantage of this "hands off" situation, I feel that she did that in this case.

But then Greg screwed up even worse. Getting pissed off, hell yes, any competitor would be and should be torqued off about something like that.

Football fans will probably remember a few years ago when Terrell Owens ran to the 50 yard line and did a little jig on the star on the Dallas Cowboys field after a touch down. One of the Cowboys ran out and popped him and I'm sure every player on his team helped pay his fine for that.

But Greg needed to think this through more, you can't ever let your competitors know that they are getting under your skin.

In situations like this its important to consult back with the coolest guy that ever existed on this planet, and think hard about how he would have handled it. I'm talking (of course) about Dean Martin.

Deano would have waited for his chance to zing her back (at least Greg got that right) but then when the opportunity presented itself would have busted off a casual comment that both totally put his adversary in their place while also using such a nonchalant style that it would be clear that the incident didn't really bug him that much in the first place (even though it really did).

The perfect time would be the next time he wins a race, and had beaten Erica in the process, of course if that was in the final round that would be ideal.

Then at the end of the final top end interview, something quick and funny with a smile on his face-

"Hey, also since my young friend Erica likes to take pictures, I'd like to invite her to take a few with my team and the Wally, we can use her trailer this time if she likes, I'll bring the beverages."

The 4 words that tripped Anderson were "I'd rather not say". If he'd simply told Gerould "as WJ would say, I took that punk to school - a little payback for that picture of her hoisting her Wally in front of my trailer"....it would have solved everything for everybody.

Erica certainly can handle being called a punk, a rivalry would have been established (good thing), and everyone else would have known right then what GA was torqued off about.

Oughta be good the next time these two line up....

Wow, I can't believe how bad I screwed up in my last post.

"the coolest guy that ever existed on this planet" was definitely Jungle Jim Liberman, but Dean Martin is solid in second place.

So the correct thinking should have been "how would Jungle Jim have handled this situation"?

"Wonder how many people hand Greg a bag of nuts or a pair of balls at Seattle this weekend? "

Or Kleenex......

Either one of those responses would have been much better that what he said. Either one would have come across with a hint of humor, yet gotten his point across.

Rolled one and passed it around:cool:... then messed with her the next time they lined up....:p

Thats because both sides took it as a joke. One team puts out sand bags as a slight dig, the other team comes over and signs them. it's over.

In this case GA took offense and drew a line in the sand (no pun) so folks are taking sides. Hence 2 pgs. vs 8 pgs

Just watched this whole episode again on the DVR. Greg said "it's not a big deal" but then spends his entire top end interview wailing on her about being professional.

Can't watch this whole thing without thinking that he came off looking like a baby. Whining incessantly about something that happened five weeks ago. Then she handled it professionally, refused to bad mouth him, and did what he should have done weeks ago: went over and discussed it.

Greg just confirmed what I've always thought about him, and reconfirmed the reason why I buy from Jegs first, and only go to Summit when I have to. Hope Summit eventually realizes he's not an asset.

Not a doubt in my mind that Greg Anderson is one of the most professional drivers out there. I believe.

However, I wish a driver as dominant as him wouldn't be professional 100percent of the time.

The class could benefit from it. But this is Greg's choice, his MO, and I credit him for being GREAT.

I'll second you Chris...
Ain't it great having some else other than GA lead the standings?
Go AJ!

Sorry to disagree but Greg's attitude will never be like WJ's. He is much more fan friendly than WJ and I doubt we'll ever hear Greg refer to a competitor as a punk. (Dave Connelly.)

I think that was Scott Geoffrion.

Here's a great vid on that burndown contest, featuring Mac and Steve.

Classic W.J. vs. Scott Geoffrion Burndown Pro stock Racing

That should bring back some memories for you older farts out there.
