Empty Seats at Daytona...

Vegas is the same ... I would guess 85% or more of the fans in the stands at the Sprint Cup race are out of towners. If they had to rely on locals to fill the stands, they would be in trouble!

Come to think of it ... it is the same for the NHRA races here, which is why there is always a huge disparity in attendance between the Spring and Fall races, most people would rather come to the fall race.

Football makes the Fall Vegas race better :D

It may have something to do with ticket packages but the Friday night Truck Race had most attendance for any truck race since the series started.

The race has been delayed again because of more rain today.

They've now scheduled a green flag just past 7pm.

In my experience, the nationwide (nee Busch) races typically had HALF of the crowd of a Sprint (nee Winston) cup race in almost all situations.

If you bought a weenend package for the Daytona speedweek (As many do.) then you were hosed, as many return flights left last night. I predict lots of empty seats tonight. That's assuming they can pull this race off.

The weather causes a financial disaster for everybody involved. Even if the track sold out all the tickets, the concession take will be slim. Did the Atlanta Super Chevy one year and stopped at the GA-AL state line to grab a bite on the way home. Talledega had been rained out, and a couple of guys offered us their tickets for the Monday rerun. Said they had planned their vacation for the race and had to be back at work on Monday.

Well good. Someone should call the media. But I'm sure the weather and the race being on a monday has a lot to do with it.

I got a text from someone who was there, he sat in Turn 1, said there were empty seats around him but it still was pretty full where he was at! But he also said that seat was $105 in 2005-06, this year $75!

So they are paying attention to the fact everyone cant afford higher ticket prices now?
