A very good point Virgil. Both lanes looked good. The track was stout and cold enough, that it destroyed a new set of tires in 1 run.

Sounds like Charlotte last March. We made 4 runs there last year and ripped the centers out of 3 sets of rear tires and a set of fronts.

We chunked tires on the last two passes at the World Finals, and the first pass this weekend, and we also chunked a lot of tires at Charlotte and Vegas. The tire expense is getting higher then the nitro expense for a weekend. We have lowered the wing as far as we can lower it. I don't know anything else we can do except not deploy the chutes.

what is the consensus regarding tires and their escalating expense?
is it a goodyear problem?
is it a track(nhra) problem?
how can a racecar product escalate in cost yet lessen in longevity?

Glue to 1320... Nitro only runs 1000... step off the loud peddle at the light, tight track, down force, rubber goes bye-bye...

Okay, But I wanna hear a 4.0 out that Toy-Yoda Body Car Today....

Best to all of you this weekend...

That last 320 of deceleration on a prepped racetrack murders the tires on a cool tight track. When the track is hot and snotty it doesn't matter as much. It's a byproduct of racing to 1000 ft (which is not an argument for or against 1000 ft racing, just a statement of fact). Like Eugene said, we have lowered the wing as far as we are allowed to by the rules, but it hasn't helped much.
