My take is that Alan is testing new stuff. With the limits on testing, someone as smart as he is can use the first half dozen or more races to test, then run the table on them when it counts.

therein lies my basic gripe with the "countdown".....it pretty much relegates the races up until US Nats as something < the races that come after it....I think a national event is a national event....

Rob, you are too late to agree with this statement. In case you missed it, Alan Reinhart already said it darn sure aint so. And he would know, he eats dinner with these folks.
