DirecTV owners...

I have 6 different Directv DVR's in my house and I have both the Genie and Tivo Directv boxes. The Genie wins hands down, it has 6 tuners built into it and you don't have to worry about recording multiple shows and not being able to watch TV on that particular TV.

I agree on DirecTV being amongst the best. I've also got a bunch of DVR's, but the new Genie set up was a huge upgrade (my one beef there is the limit of one Genie master to 5 Genie clients ....20 boxes at my place). The Nomad system for moving recorded programs to your tablet/phone/PC via wifi is also great .... I think they've renamed this Genie remote or something.

I don't have direct so my question is, why so many DVR's? With my provider I have one DVR and I can watch it on any tv in the house.

Hey Mike, the way it works for me is the more dvrs the more channels I can record at the same time, I have two, my Daughter uses one mostly one for her shows and I use the other, we can also share them anywhere in the house, I do not have the Genie, that will be my next upgrade

Mark, Mine does 4 shows at once and 8 hours in hd. If I need to watch anymore tv than that, I need a life..

What's the cost to upgrade to the Genie. They tell me I can't upgrade till Sept. 2014 unless I want to pay 100.00 plus.

Mike, what I have is the same, 4 channels total, 2 each per dvr, works for me too, that is why I have not been in a hurry to look into the genie upgrade, when one of mine goes south I will look at it then

Paul, If I need more than 8 hours I'd shoot myself. Find it hard to sit that long in front of a tv.:D:p

You get what you pay for. Dish's customer service is crap and they don't offer the content that DirecTV does (NFL Sunday Ticket, etc).

Unless you like a lot of channels for foreign content. Then by all means go for it. :D
Never got any service much less good service from Direct. Have always got great service from Dish. This Snowbird R.V. Park I'm in has all converted to Dish but one.

I have had the complete opposite experience with Directv. I have now had them for 5yrs and they always bend over backwards to give me whatever I wanted. If you are any type of a sports fan Directv is the only game in town when it comes to coverage. NFL Sunday Ticket and MLB Extra Innings are well worth the $$.

I had both for a couple of years, but DirecTV has the best content and service by my experience (so I no longer have Dish). Dish has done a better job with the RV set because you can get HD easier without capturing multiple sats. We are SD going down the road, and HD once parked in our race rig.

My mindset on dealing with Dish, DirecTV, and SiriusXM is that you start the call with a very full glass of wine (or a bottle nearby) and the knowledge that you'll likely stay on the phone for almost an hour .... once I let that reality settle, I can always get what I want out of the interaction.
